Life Moments VS Telecommunications

I'm sorry, but I have a huge huge problem with this new commercial iphone has out for their new iphone 4.

YouTube - Apple iPhone 4 Advert - Big News

I mean, is this the future of how we, compassionate beings, are going to be sharing our "life moments" with our spouses and loved ones from here on to eternity??

I never really gave it a thought, I hate commercials and usually just ignore them, but had dinner with my mother tonight and this commercial came up during our conversations.

In her opinion, iphone has thrown "family values" out with the bath water on this campaign. One spouse telling another spouse they are going to be bringing another life into this world and that he is about to be a father should be an intimate personal moment in their lives and should be shared together, physically, and NOT by a telecommunicating device. My mother also remembers the days when both spouses informed all 4 expecting grandparents, who were all gathered together in the same room, that they were soon going to have the pitter patter sounds of grandchildren in their lives. She fully understands phone calls/announcements of expecting "Grandchildren" to grandparents today due to children living apart and in other cities, but this here (dingy wife calling husband to say she's pregnant on an iphone) is really absurd and disgusting to her.

Could this wife not have waited until he got home and shared this very intimate personal moment with him "in person"??? Or, is telecommunicating the future for sharing intimate moments in our lives from here on out.

My opinion, I don't like the commercial either, the message is not right. But, I do like how it gives the guy a head start when it comes to "getting the hell out of town" just in case he wasn't ready to be a daddy yet. :p

I dunno. A one-on-one video chat is at least a little more intimate than a text message. :D
