No, Your not wrong, I Haven't really fished out in the Lake for a lot of years (Especially for Walleye) Years ago my friend had a Boat and I Didn't, so we went out in his Boat, But That was Aloooong Time Ago! And I'm Trying to Remember How we Did it for Walleye. Perch Fishing wasn't a Problem, I have been doing that for the past 4 years, But didn't have the Right gear for walleye.. I will be Using the Erie Dearie,I have heard that the "Green" is what they are Hitting on Right Now. Could my Information be Wrong?![]()
Erie Dearie's are an effective tool. What are you using for bait on them? Effective colors can change from day to day and even hour to hour. It is a good idea to have a good selection of colors.
They can be cast and reeled back slowly, trolled or drifted on the bottom. Trolling is a difficult method. You have to know lake currents etc. Speed is critical, too fast or too slow, now fish. Same with drifting. A "drift sock" helps out there to slow the boat down if needed.
Keep in mind that there is little "luck" in hunting or fishing. The amount of "luck" you have is determined by your method, scouting skills, and hours spent in pursuit of you quarry.
I am not all that good out on Lake Erie. My boat is too small to fish out there on anything but the best days. I fish the Trenton Channel of the Detroit River for the most part.
Maybe we can hook up one day while I am home. I love "mentoring newbies" !!!
