President’s plan envisions 85 percent of nation connected by high-speed rail

Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood said Tuesday 85 percent of the country will be connected by a high-speed rail network within 25 years.

He said he was “more optimistic than ever” about the future of transportation policy as he said he would soon meet with President Obama to discuss the president’s “transformational vision” for the future. A major part of the administration’s focus is high-speed rail.

“We don’t know where the lines will fall on a map or where the money will come from, but I promise you in less time than it took to create our interstates, the country will have high-speed rail,” LaHood said.

Pennsylvania Gov. Ed Rendell, co-chairman of the Building America's Future coalition said, “We hope the secretary takes our message to the president: infrastructure is one of the most effective ways to help create good-paying jobs, increase Americans’ quality of life and show how we can efficiently invest during hard times.”

No Xiggi, at least not yet. I would put NOTHING past a leftest. The history of left world wide does not bode well when they take over. We shall see what happens, if there is NO FREE election in 2012, ANYTHING could happen. I will, for now, just watch.

Wow LS to even think there might not be free elections. Time to stop watching news and reading political stuff for a while. Take a time out, and enjoy life. Sometimes we can get so caught up in all the trash being thrown around out there reality becomes clouded over.

I enjoy life a lot, my friend, thank you for your concern. (I really mean that) Too bad I did not know you were at expo, I would very much have enjoyed meeting you.

I watch far less "news" than you may think and would much prefer to just hunt and fish and be left alone by politicians. Alas, they are NOT doing that.

The constant attacks on our Constitution by this administration and congress are worrisome to say the least. It is far too easy to just sit back and wait to have events take us over. That is what all extremists, left or right, want us to do. They are counting on the idea that we will NOT pay attention to what they are doing.


Other than my family there are two basic needs in my life. My freedom and my Constitution. I will give up neither.

I will pay VERY close attention. I trust NO politician. I trust NO extremist and very much view Obama as a left wing extremist. He opposes just about everything that I hold dear in life. I would put NOTHING past him or the "PuppetMaster" that controls him.

Our very freedoms are being challenged. Socialism is a nasty system which has the ultimate goal of total control over the people. I cannot just sit back and wait to be controlled.

As to free elections, did you ever think that you would see the day when our congress would just "DEEM" something passed? Like the budget? That is NOT how our Republic is set up. They are attempting to rule the Nation, NOT represent the People. Is is a VERY DANGEROUS trend that we are seeing.

Yep, our Freedoms have always been challenged. They are being challenged today in ways that we have not seen for a very long time. The danger is accelerating. It is the responsibility of EVERY FREEDOM loving person to insure that we do NOT lose them.

We MIGHT not YET have been forced into a government run rail system that operates at a loss and the taxes needed to run it but these nerds would LOVE to force that on us. This bunch won't be happy until they rule the country and control most of the money supply and ALL of the people.
