So once they force them to register their illegal guns, will they let them keep them since they are now registered!?!? LOL, Yea the government will have people hanging out in the worst parts of town, setting up "registration booths and asking everyone, "hey you have a illegal gun!?" I can see it, the local LEO's will be knocking on every door in town and making an inventory of all of those steak knives and chefs knives and that ice pick, oh and don't forget that "assault baseball bat" ......Where do we find these idiots!?!? Oh and don't forget that "assualt pillow you have on your bunk in your sleeper, the fed will be banning them from your truck because they just made it a "weapon"....just like a gun in your cab.....

In an effort to reduce gun violence nationwide, Attorney General Eric Holder said today that the Obama administration will reinstate the Clinton-era assault weapons ban that expired in 2004, adding new provisions to make it even more effective at saving lives.

Under the revised rules, people who intend to commit crimes with stolen guns, for example, will first need to register those weapons with the federal government.

"Guns don't kill people," said Mr. Holder, "Unregistered, stolen guns kill people. Once we have a list of all of the guns owned by potential criminals, it will be much easier to track down the origin of a weapon that's been used in a robbery or murder."

The Justice Department plans to open illegal gun registration kiosks in pawn shops, urban parking garages and abandoned buildings in high-profile locations to make the registration process "as easy and painless as possible."

In addition to the registration requirement, the definition of 'assault weapon' has been expanded to include not only certain semi-automatic guns with pistol grips, large magazines, silencers or collapsible stocks, but any weapon that can be used to assault another person.

"About 14 percent of murderers use knives," the Attorney General said. "Another five percent kill with blunt objects, and 11 percent with other weapons. The way to stop all of this, of course, is to compile a database at the federal level of all sharp kitchen utensils, hand tools, belts, lengths of rope, hangers, pillows and other potentially-deadly weapons."

President Barack Obama has said he agrees with the Supreme Court's D.C. vs. Heller decision which asserted that the Second Amendment to the Constitution guarantees an individual right to "keep and bear arms."

"The president is fully behind the Heller decision," said Mr. Holder, "and he also supports common-sense laws to prevent any practical application of that ruling. All we're trying to do now is to eliminate the discriminatory distinction between so-called law-abiding citizens and the rest of us."

This is exactly what happens when you have rule by Wackos!! It is also the result of a highly biased press and the deliberate mis-reporting and lies told about gun crimes and crime in general. The sad thing is that so many people believe this garbage and make no attempt to find out if they are reporting the issue truthfully or fairly. They believe statics that are reported without ever questioning the validity of those statics. Without ever questoning the methodology in compiling them or checking on the source. We allow this to happen. We tend to fall for the sad story or the horror of a very bad crime. We tend not to pay attention to the crimes that are stopped due to private gun ownership. We pay no attention to the millions who do nothing wrong. If we are to give up RIGHTS either by choice or force, the government has to give them up as well. Allowing the police or military to have "So-Called" Assault weapons and not the general public is the start of setting up a police state. Remeber, the primary purpose of the 2nd Amendment, which is part of the BIll of Rights, was to insure that the People could protect themselfs from thier own government when it became a tyranni. The Federal Government has no legal athority to regulate private gun ownership in any way, shape or form. The Right to Keep and Bear Arms is given to the People and ONLY the People. That is what the Bill of Rights did, define and outline the rights of the people. The Constitution was written to LIMIT the power of the Federal government.
