Just lucky I guess

I am just lucky I guess. After reading public appoligy and several others today that is how I feel. The company I drive for and who also owns the truck I drive must be some kind of dream from the things I read about owners and companies. My owner presented me with a truck with all the bells and whistles, a large sleeper fully equiped and a pay check every wensday. If it is on the truck by Sunday I get paid the very next Wensday. If something is broke I am told to GET IT FIXED. My owner does not want me to ever get a D.O.T inspection that my truck won't pass. The BOSS even knows me and my wife by our first name and calls us by our name (I am not sure if our truck number is even known).

Sure we sit waiting for a load but even at that we average 3,000 miles per week paid loads. No we are not newbys, we have been doing expedited for the last 13 years. We have worked for the major companies (all but Fed x) over the years. I have felt mistreated by some of them but I have not posted the the mistreatment. After all they probable thought I was mistreating them also. Up till now I have not posted the good things eather but after reading the post I read today I felt that I should.

Landstar Express America and Tri State were very good to us. We owned our own truck back then and drove about 5 years for each of those companies. When we sold our truck we were going to retire,LOL. When we decided to get back into this world we found Tom, been with him every since. Sure there is some things we would rather not have but 90% good is exceptional so the bad just don't seem to count.

I know it is different strokes for different folks but I have a motto given me by my Father years ago that goes "There is so much good in the worst of us and so much bad in the best of us that it little behoves any of us to talk about the rest of us" Even so there are times you just have to tell some one. God Bless to each and all of you out there.

Spelling is not my long suite so please forgive.

Nice post! I think it is so good to read a positive post anywhere.
Any job is what you make it, in fact if you truly enjoy your job...
it's not work at all.

Runningturttle,

Regardless of the spelling and syntax, you spoke volumes of wisdom.

I thank you for taking the time to post.

I look forward to reading more of your experiences as an expediter.

Great post my friend! As a fleet owner for 7 years I'm proud of the relationships I have with 90% of the drivers that worked for me.I get baby pictures, invites to weddings,Christmas cards and emails daily.
More then half the teams bought their own trucks and are doing well, and others bought land and built homes. It's really a blessing to know I was part of making peoples lives better,as they made mine better. There are few that I would rather forget, but thats true in any business. Most accepted the ups and downs of working for a small business owner, and recognized if you work hard and stay felxable you can make a few dreams come true and enjoy the ride.
Excellent post,again!
