Weather conditions this time of year call for extra caution . A CB really helps you keep aware of conditions ahead but assess all info properly . Drivers will still being informing you of a wreck 100 miles ahead . When you consider it's been over an hour and a half since they passed there and will take you at least that long to get there , the incident may not affect you . But to get to my point , there are many incidents in snow and ice where vehicles go off the road into the ditch or median and don't affect traffic . These are removed when weather improves and affect traffic then . An example is a wreck on I-80 E in PA where a truck went through a guardrail at the 152 mile marker . A couple of days later 80E was shut down from 9:00 a.m. 'til 3:00 p.m. and traffic detoured for that wreck to be cleaned up . I encountered other lane closures that day to clean up wrecks that occured the past couple of days . So stay informed and don't assume clear roads after a storm mean smooth sailing .
