Jazzy ran for truckers, now a call to help her cause

Yesterday afternoon Jasmine J. Jordan (Jazzy), a seventeen year old girl from Dalton, MN completed her cross-country run from Los Angeles to NYC at Times Square www.runwithjazzy.com. This 3100 + mile run began back in Sept, 2009. Why? In memory of Sheila Kay Grothe, and to draw attention to the need to help support the Saint Christophers Trucker Developement and Relief Fund, a non profit organization.

Jazzy's parents operate a small trucking and pilot car business www.pilotcarjordan.com in Dalton, MN. When their driver Sheila Kay Grothe lost her battle with cancer April 17TH, 2009, Jazzy wanted to do something to help. Seeing the financial hardships Sheila's family endured during her illness, and knowing that many drivers across the nation can no longer afford health insurance in these hard economic times, making their families vulnerable to the financial hardships caused by medical bills, Jazzy chose to make this run in hopes that many would be compelled to help each other by donating to Saint Christophers Fund. Sadly, donations trickled in, yet Jazzy stood firm on her commitment to complete her run.

She back burnered her own training as an Olympic Runner hopeful for the 2012 games to make this run for us, the American Trucker. You and I. Yes some are thinking to yourselves "this does'nt apply to me cause I have health insurance." If so, that is wonderful. Unfortunately, many other O/Os and drivers could no longer afford to keep their health insurance during the slump in the ecomony and had to let it go. Some became ill afterwards and lost everything simply because there was no financial asssistance to help them get through until they could get back to driving. That is where Saint Christophers comes in www.truckerfund.com. I challenge all members and visitors of this website (EO) to help support Jazzy in her efforts. Her run may be over and she and her family may be headed back home to MN, but there will always be a need to support this cause.

Dave Nemo Enterprises (The Dave Nemo Radio Show) and Road Dog Radio on satelite radio were huge supporters of Jazzy, giving much air time to her cause throughout her run.

Thanks Jazzy, you are a trucker's hero

we made our donation to Jazzy's personal account to thank her for the time and conviction she and her dad made to help truckers in need. How many teenagers do you know that would complete this journey?

And how many of today's teenagers would have done it as unselfishly as she? How many after being injured in a car accident during the run would have given up and gone home. When her own father suggested that she end the run in DC, she said NO, I'm going all the way.

If you go to www.runwithjazzy.com and pull up "Jazzy's Photos" and then open "One Bad Day" you will see what her commitment to this cause almost cost her. What is ours? Eighty-three views to date of this thread, and only one response?

Thank you Blackbeard for your support of Jazzy!!!
