Is this OOIDA's win?

Do you feel that the government saw the fight ahead and decided not right now? Is it the spending that stopped? Or maybe the government has realized we are supposed to be free? My guess is the first and second, they were concerned dropping this much money on something the general public doesn't know about or understand was worrisome for election time. Hopefully some of the idiots out there learn to fill one out correctly so this won't come up again.

This is just another bump in the road. This issue will be fought again and again. I honestly think it is not an if but a when....

I'm hoping it will just fall by the wayside for a little while and then we keep the accidents at all time lows so the issue of an EOBR mandate seems pointless.

you have forgo10 the most important question.
not if or when but what !
the bill pass by the negotiation comity went beyond the version of the senate bill, and WAY beyond the house version.
all the house wanted is an HOS compliance. instead they got the most invasive bill ever to come to the president desk. a one that clear the road to gov. spaying ,vehicle mil travel, tax increase, black boxes on cars, remote/wireless enforcement, and a whole other bad things. all of which was not intended by the 2 original bills.
which is BTW the point i made to my congressman's, and the worthless one that was sitting on that comity)
this is a perfect example of 'be careful what you wish for', and a 'once the gov. got their foot in the door'.

Yes and the cars are even worse and much more dangerous, it is city driving at it's worst. Chicago is a special case for obvious reasons, seeing bad driving there has nothing to do with the overall picture of this industry.

oh, then there is Detroit, Dallas, Atlanta...you big drivers always try to deflect the issue to 4 wheelers...it is their fault...when it fact it boils down to pizz poor driver training...and REAL enforcement, rather then some lousey marker light out, they should be nailing everyone for aggressive driving habits...

OVM: you're wrong about " big drivers always try to deflect the issue to 4 wheelers", because the facts and statistics back up what we see every day: most 4 wheel drivers don't know [or care] about the physics, they just want to be in front of trucks instead of behind them. And the more traffic there is, the crazier chances they'll take to get in front, which is the main reason I try to avoid driving in rush hour.
You're right about the lack of training, though, for ALL drivers. When high schools stopped teaching teens to drive, everyone just accepted it, as if it's not an important skill, right?
And enforcement has focused on revenue instead of safety: speed is easy to prove in court, so it gets the attention [and blame] that allows officials to insist they're solving the problem. Aggressive drivers are seldom caught making sudden lane changes and/or tailgating, so they will continue to endanger everyone until a way is found to stop them. It is a tough one, but education [more and better] for all drivers is a good start.

I believe Chicago is the worst of the worst though, I would rather drive through NYC or Atlanta.
Right now the issue should be the 4 wheelers as they cause the majority of accidents between cars and trucks. I agree with you that there needs to be better training for drivers of both cars and trucks. In NY you get your car permit by answering a few questions about what road signs mean and there is no standard set for training for your CDL. The education and enforcement are where we need to focus because creating a new law is worthless if you don't know why it is in place or if you never get fined for breaking it you don't care.
