Interested in really making a difference this election cycle?

Post a different thread...
I had a feeling you would say something along the lines of that - for me to in effect shut up and not voice any disagreement with anything you say. As Xiggi noted, it's an Open Forum where anyone can post, and the Soapbox in particular is specifically designed for people to post their opinions, which are likely to be different from the opinions of others, regardless of the subject.

Be respectful of other people whether you like their ideas or not. Unless of course your role as a moderator of this site dictates that you must be a smart ***.
You mean be respectful like referring to me several times as a "smart ***"? That kind of respectful? You mean the respectfulness of pushing opinions onto others while not accepting a differing opinion, of telling someone to shut up and go away and post someplace else? You demand respect but refuse to give it? You don't see the hypocrisy in that? I wonder what your reaction would be if I told you to go post your opinions someplace else. My, oh, my, what would Jesus do?

It is not just this thread...

Like I said, I have better things to do with my time. Some of us try to build others up. I will spend my time there. I have thought for many years that this site was a place of helping and respecting each other. You know what they say about a few bad apples...

Good day!

Okay, I know you are still there.

Seriously.
If you are going to stand up for your beliefs then you must be able to defend them and rigorously debate them. You can't always be preaching to the choir.
I am sure that the disciples didn't just talk to those that agreed with them and when some threw rocks they continued on.
You can use Mitt Romney as an example. He trudged around France for several years getting doors slammed in his face and being ridiculed yet he persisted because he believed in what he was doing.
That quality shows in the political arena and makes him a better man because of it.

Those who you call "bad apples" are helping you to strengthen and defend your position which will ultimately grow your faith. So stick around.

Just my opinion.:)

Turtle, I dealt with you respectfully every time I have posted in the same thread with you over the last several years. It is only now I called a spade a spade. What would Jesus do? Go ask the lepers He didn't heal. He left them in their filth which is what I am doing with you...

Good day!

Are you accusing me now of being disrespectful to you? Other than disagreeing with you on occasion, just how, exactly, have I not respected you? To my recollection, and please correct me if I'm wrong, I have never called you names, never told you to go post elsewhere, never said you shouldn't voice your opinion, all of which are pretty disrespectful.

I started reading this thread because of the title, which related to "really making a difference in this election cycle". Admittedly, after a quick look at the link to the religious website I tuned out because what I was really looking for was a substantial idea that would suggest some effective grass roots activities in which some of us might be able to engage that would help the Romney-Ryan ticket and further the conservative cause. Prayer might help to some extent, but when it comes to grass roots political efforts it's highly likely the Almighty helps those who help themselves.

That being said, it would be helpful to hear any ideas that might be practical for those of us with time to spend online in an effort to spread factual information that might help defeat Obama. I'm not talking about making robo-calls or going door-to-door in neighborhoods; maybe there are some effective social networking sites like Facebook where some undecided potential voters might be reached. Most of the time we find ourselves gravitating to sites where like-minded people hand out - this applies to liberals or conservatives - the end result being an excercise in preaching to the choir. Personally, I'd like to find some more places where the so-called "moderates" and "undecideds" might be reached. I've never tried Facebook or any of those social networking places, but maybe it's worth a try if it would help spread some of the information never seen on the mainstream media. After all, this is an election cycle in which a difference REALLY needs to be made.
