Insurance catch 22 's

As posted in another message I decided to buy a dually pickup and contract delivering new travel trailers but I'll continue to visit this site because of the useful info . I purchased a new Dodge 3500 Dually Quad Cab . I needed the insurance to satisfy Chrysler Finance to take delivery . I had my private vehicle insured with State Farm . They would not insure a commercial vehicle . I contacted the company recommended by my carrier for bobtail insurance . I explained the situation and they said they could give me both bobtail and comprehensive and be covered that day . They faxed me a certficate and it said the insurance would only be in effect while leased to the carrier . I cannot get a lease until I take delivery of the truck and fax the carrier a copy of the registration . I contacted local agents and they said I cannot have both bobtail and personal coverage yet the carrier says bobtail should not take the place of personal insurance . For the time being I got State Farm to insure the truck as a personal vehicle so I can get a fifth wheel installed and get to orientation and get contracted . I know insurance is a difficulty for smaller truck owners . I'd also like to know the best mobile phone carrier to use . We've pretty much decided on cingular because of free mobile to mobile and no roaming charges .

I went through all sorts of pains with insurance and ended up taking coverage with my carrier. It was less expensive than any I found on my own to boot.

I have cingular on their gait plan. It's supposedly the largest coverage area of any company and any plan in the nation. It is mediocre at best. Even running along interstates I have dead areas. I am going back to t-mobile. Better rates and good coverage from Texas eastward. They have unlimited mobile to mobile for $7 and some sort of couples talk free plan I haven't looked into yet. Good luck to you.

I am not sure on a pick-up pulling campers, but a 98 commercial flatbed straight truck last year (not leased to a carrier) was $5,200 in Florida. Much cheaper to insure through your carrier if it is available. Rates may be higher in the midwest or northeast.
