Ok, i have a question and maybe somebody has had this problem and did something to solve it. I drive an FL80 the floor boards and the firewall get really hot when driving. There is no insulation between the outside and inside except the metal of the floor and firewall. I'm looking for something to put down to keep the heat out and the cool and vice versa depending on the season. I've hit up a few home depots to try and find a heat barrier but i couldnt find anything nor was any of the employees able to help me either. I though of going to my carpet installing contacts and getting some left over padding but that might not work as well as a heat barrier would.

How much do you want to spend?

This matters.

The firewall and undercab temps are not an easy thing to keep out of the cab, mainly because of the shape of the floor and firewall and the stuff that works is not cheap. many things that are used in the sleeper and in vans will not work.

I would look at some of the inexpensive ceramic layered material because we are talking about more than 200 degrees in some spot - I know I measured the temps when I was down in Arizona and in Denver when I first came out here.

If you want a spray on stuff, there is a number of products that you can buy but the cost per foot is not cheap.

HeatBloc-75 is one, there are fire retardants that you can get pretty inexpensive that can be sprayed and lasts which also acts like a heat barrier.

Oh that was all for outside the cab, on the inside I would consider some of the sound deadening material which has the heat barrier foil on it but only after you have something on the outside.
