In Bond

Hello,

Just signed up here and had a question about Bonds and in-bond shipments. A customer of mine recently wanted to start shipping product from the US in-bond to be transferred to an airport in Canada for further export. So the freight would be "in-transit'. I have a regular carrier code and not a bonded carrier code, I have applied for a bond but just wanted to know if I can still move this freight without having been issued a bonded carrier code from customs yet. I don't know of anyone willing to lend out there carrier code/bond for a fee in the Mississauga area, also I dont want to lose my customer so I would appreciate if anyone can point me in the right direction of how I could go about getting this done.

I know little of this, except my own experiences, and they may be dated!

"In Bond" meant the load was being tranported across Canada, say from Buffalo to Detroit ... or .... I took it to a BONDED warehouse for them to handle.

Either case, the load was to be in a sealed truck, sealed by Canadian Customs people on entry into Canada, and delivered intact.

In the case of cross Canada, it had to be intact at exit ..

I caution .. I have not done that in quite sometime, perhaps others know more of this than I. (Matter of fact, I'm sure someone will!)

Thank you for the reply. I am picking up two small boxes and not a trailor load. The packages have a security seal and are being taken directly across the border to a bonded warehouse for export. What I need to know is can I make this trip from the US side back into canada with just a regular carrier code and not a bonded carrier code?the client is setting it up "in transit" so as to avoid having to pay duties as it will be exported. I have applied for a bond but just not sure ill get that bonded carrier code issued in time for the shipment dec 14.

I wish I could give definitive help, I just don't know the answer.
