ideal carrier

I was reading over a contract from a bigger carrier
they are claiming that I will never have to pay over 1.40 per gallon
for fuel.of course they take the fuel surcharge off what you paid for the fuel and at the end of the month they average it out and if you paid over 1.40 they refund you the difference. If this works how come the expediters are not doing this?

I have been getting some better rates because of fuel prices this week.out of all the different expediters I pull for my hats off to Landstar.

All runs I did for them this week paid over $1.75 p/m
with the heaviest load under 6k the shortest run my trucks did was 478 miles the longest was over 2200

I think those of you with landstar will make it.I think we should all be looking for solutions to the fuel problems.you know expedite is not always better than hauling non-expedite freight because we you guys get screwed on the mini run.

I can haul any load that is going less than 100 miles and get paid $300.00 on it expedite or not.

would some of you let me know what your companies mini runs pay you as the owner of the truck?

Nations Express still expects their O/O's to run for a $1.25 per mile including fuel surcharge.

Some agents even get indignant if you decline because of the rate per mile.

To be truthful they will Pay more in some cases, but its like trying to squeeze water from a turnip.

Landstar is looking better and better!!

Well, I just looked at my settlement sheets from FedEx and 90% of the loads I have taken has a fuel sur charge that is .23 a loaded mile. Which I'm sure FedEx will be making higher next week.

Here is one of the loads I did.

The load was 828 miles for a base pay of $1248.62 which is $1.50 a loaded mile.

I was paid a fuel sur charge of 193.75 which is .23 a loaded mile for fuel

My truck gets 9.8 mpg and fuel at that time was $2.47 a gallon which would cost me in fuel only .25 per mile. So for a load that is 828 miles plus 50 miles to to my next layover stop. So I would have to buy 90 gallons of fuel for this run, which cost me $223.00. So if you take away 193.75 from 223.00 you get $29.25 that comes out of the base pay that we get. So I think FedEx is doing the right thing for there owner's.

But i'm only one owner.

That is why the past fuel surcharge legislation was inadequate. It never did address the actual problems.

As far as FedEx, you must be one of the lucky ones. Who is running all the cheap discount loads I keep seeing posted about?
Some are listed in the post about contests. LEA has some decent loads, but they run alot of cheap freight out of many areas. I use them occassionally, and some loads are good, and some aren't do good.

This could be true for the ones leased directly to Lea

But I run as an outside carrier so the rates they pay me differ from the ones that lease directly to Lea.They call us when there is loads available that they can not cover with an Lea unit.

so they end up paying us more just to keep there loads covered.

What im waiting for is the day that enough of you that work for the same expediter get enough balls about you to just take a day off and say hey fuel has went up 300% since I got into this thing and im not going back to work till either the rates go up or fuel comes down.those of you under a load at the time should just call your carrier and say im sorry but your gonna have to transload this shippment cause Ive only got enough fuel money to get the truck home.

What do you think would happen?
I know
They would check and see if they had another truck in the area
then if they didnt have one in service they would start calling the outside carriers looking for rates to finish the load up.

all we as fleet owners have to do is sign up with the next big carrier that doesnt start operations till the day the shutdown starts.

This way we could just say ok its like this fuel has went up 300% in the last 7 year period.

So what me and my carrier have agreed on is to take our rates from 7 years ago and raise them 300%.

to make up the difference of the cost of operation then and now.

its plain and simple not asking for anything more than the difference.

if we could just all stick to that we would either bring fuel down or rates up.

It will only take 15 days we could do it.

If you are one that decides to shut down and would be interested in following up on this please email me. [email protected]

if I can get even 100 of you to agree then I will will form the LLC
that will be member managed.

We can all meet and have a conference of our own away from the motor city.

no booths trying to sell you something just truckers that want to make a decent living for the work they do.

all I need from you guys is your signature on the articles of organisation.

What this means is you become a member of the LLC with voting rights
not an employee you become part owner.

do you really think landstar has 8,000 units?
NO they dont they have outside carriers. we own the equipment
we haul there customers freight.

Its time to put the control in the hands of the owners of that equipment.

think of it as our declaration of independence

Ive already got 5 I just need 95 more

I would like to add 100 trucks a week that wont run for less than $3.00 per mile
