ID ten T computer error

As we Silver Surfers know, sometimes we have trouble with our computers.

I had a problem yesterday, so I called Eric, the 11 year old next door, whose bedroom looks like Mission Control and asked him to come over.

Eric clicked a couple of buttons and solved the problem.

As he was walking away, I called after him, 'So, what was wrong ?

He replied, 'It was an ID ten T error.'

I didn't want to appear stupid, but nonetheless enquired,

'An, ID ten T error ? What's that? In case I need to fix it again.'

Eric grinned.... 'Haven't you ever heard of an ID ten T error before ?

'No,' I replied.

'Write it down,' he said, 'and I think you'll figure it out.'

So I wrote down:

When we used to get "NUGS" at overseas sites we used a similar joke. We told them that there was an enemy radioprinter with the designation of 1D10T and that they needed to find that signal. MANY would fall for it.

I did not. I DID fall for another one but due to the nature of this site and it's software I am NOT able to pass that on! It was REALLY funny!!

Uh Huh, Yeah, sure.

I passed along the story to the "Ragman" about what it took to "get me". It WAS a classic and FAR better than that old, worn out, 1D10T joke. They got me good, I took it like a man and was NO longer a "nug" I became an "Old Guy" . One of the crowd.

Too bad I can't post it in this forum but it would likely offend some. Military practical jokes are NOT for the weak or wimpy!!
