Ole and Lena lived on a big lake in Nordern Minnesoda. One day towards spring Ole asked Lena if she would walk across the lake to get him some beer.
When Lena asked Ole for some money, he told her to "Yust put it on the tab".
Lena crossed the ice to the general store, got the beer and returned.
"Say Ole", Lena asked "Vhy did you have me charge it? Ve got enough money to pay for it".
Ole looked at Lena and answered "I vasn't going to risk da money if da ice vasn't tick enough.”
