I need another company in Ga.

I have a 2000 E350 and I work for DTH in atlanta at a rate of 90cpm one way miles and 14% FSC.I get called 3-4 times a week.I am wondering if this a a good pay when comparing all the other companies.I drive about 1200 miles a week and out of this there are about 600 dead head miles. This whole week has been slow and I have not worked all week.
I also have a CDL A but I hate the stress I have to go through in going over the road with the tractor trailor. What other alternative are there without trying to go over the road for more than 4 days.
I am also planning on moving to a nearby state within the south east with the unemplyment rate being much lower than atlanta in other places.I personally believe this place is over rated and the over-crowdedness makes it hard to find work.
Would anyone recommend Charlotte?I mean Charlotte as far as either doing courier work, expediting or IT since my main background is IT.Atlanta is a mess with the unemployment rate being soo high, traffic and the amount of people.
Thank you for your input.

Based on expediting I'd call that a decent rate with bad deadhead however from what I read in your post you aren't doing expediting. I don't know of any true expediting that's going to get you home every 4 or 5 days. I'd suggest you check sites like monster.com for IT jobs in areas you are considering. You could also contact some of the companies linked through this site however I suspect they are going to want you to go out for at least a couple of weeks at a time to be able to make decent miles and money. Good luck.

For a van 90 cpm is a good rate. Home Every Weekend can be done But it will cost you in the End. DeadHead for a Van has always been High. But if you play it Right it could work in your favor. When I was doing Expedited Work I would sit after a load No more than 12 hours before moving to another area or Home if I was less than 400 miles away.Always seem to get Loaded Quicker when I was Home.

Egl is another bad company. My uncle works for Tri-State and he hated the compnay when he used to work for them. They also require a 2000 van.I hope they go out of business because my uncle is the second person who has told me about them. The also have one recruiter who never calls you back when you leave messages.

This is probably not what you are looking for but you can make great $$$ pulling overseas containers. If you lived near Savannah GA. Jacksonville Fl. Charlestown SC, you could drive 4 days a week and be home every night. ( you'll need a tractor, age un-important ours is a 79 CL9000 which cost 5000.00)

Here's two examples, 2 round trips from Jax Fl to Savannah Ga per day @ 240 miles round trip picking up Home Depot loads for export 4 days a week pays 2400.00.

Dupont Haz-Mat paint loads from Jax Fl to Valdosta Ga @ 117 miles Pays 370.00 one way (DH back) but you can run 2 loads per day or up to 11 loads a week (6 days) which comes out to 4,070.00 a week and no stress, Usually we just do 7 of those a week and some local city runs and take 2 days off like regular folks.

There are a few cons...getting a port pass requires a thorough background check, you have to learn when the ships are there ( dont try to deliver a can when they are there or you'll sit and wait for 2 hours), you have to deal with customs agents but for minimal investment as in no truck payment or fuel taxes to pay you can make money.

Imports are smokin' right now and theres like 100 plus containers for every one truck running, we have another 300 million dollar Mansuai port being built here so I figured might as well take advantage of that.

Just a thought for ya anyway

Saying "I hope they go out of business" is kinda harsh. Expecially since it appears that you have no 1st hand knowledge of EGL.
