Yeap, he just does as he d*mn well pleases while...all the while flaunting it..and as for the support from the rino's and those on the left..they along with barry need to go...Its funny barry and hs minions used the "War Powers Act" to justify going into Libya on their own, but now its not a matter they need to address...just screw the law... as they ave demostrated since he walked in the door of the WH, he thinks he is above that law and has no reguard for the Constitution....

Oh and if anyone thinks we don't "run" NATO in this situation, take a look at the "command structure" and see who is calling the shoots...

I think this qualifies as barry and his bunch, "finding away around the law".....gee i wonder where that was mentioned....

White House on War Powers Deadline: 'Limited' US Role in Libya Means No Need to Get Congressional Authorization

White House on War Powers Deadline: 'Limited' US Role in Libya Means No Need to Get Congressional Authorization - Political Punch

In an effort to satisfy those arguing he needs to seek congressional authorization to continue US military activity in accordance with the War Powers Resolution, President Obama wrote a letter to congressional leaders this afternoon suggesting that the role is now so “limited” he does not need to seek congressional approval.

“Since April 4,” the president wrote, “U.S. participation has consisted of: (1) non-kinetic support to the NATO-led operation, including intelligence, logistical support, and search and rescue assistance; (2) aircraft that have assisted in the suppression and destruction of air defenses in support of the no-fly zone; and (3) since April 23, precision strikes by unmanned aerial vehicles against a limited set of clearly defined targets in support of the NATO-led coalition's efforts.”

A senior administration official told ABC News that the letter is intended to describe “a narrow US effort that is intermittent and principally an effort to support to support the ongoing NATO-led and UN-authorized civilian support mission and no fly zone.”

“The US role is one of support,” the official said, “and the kinetic pieces of that are intermittent.”

From the beginning of the U.S. military intervention in Libya, the Obama administration has cited the 1973 War Powers Act as the legal basis of its ability to conduct military activities for 60 days without first seeking a declaration of war from Congress. The military intervention started on March 19; Congress was notified on March 21. Those 60 days expire today.

The president thanked the congressional leaders – House Speaker John Boehner, R-Ohio, House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, D-Nev., and Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell, R-Kentucky --- for the support that they have “demonstrated for this mission and for our brave service members, as well as your strong condemnation of the Qaddafi regime.”

The president voiced support for a bipartisan resolution drafted by Senators John Kerry, D-Mass., John McCain, R-Ariz., Carl Levin, D-Mich., Dianne Feinstein, D-Calif., Lindsey Graham, R-SC, and Joe Lieberman, I-Conn., stating that Congress “supports the U.S. mission in Libya and that both branches are united in their commitment to supporting the aspirations of the Libyan people for political reform and self-government…Congressional action in support of the mission would underline the U.S. commitment to this remarkable international effort.”

Earlier this month, Kerry – who chairs the Senate Foreign Relations Committee – described his resolution as “in limbo.”

Well I got to ask who really gives a crap?

Now before you go off on me, I have to point out that most of congress, AND ESPECIALLY the republicans/conservatives within congress made it a point to complain that he did too little too late on Libya and a few have yet pointed out that we should not be there to begin with. Ron Paul are among those pointed out that we can't seem to get the idea that these things are not important to our country, as I pointed out Korea is not as important to us as our border. No one yet in congress has demanded a hearing about the scope and depth of the operation or details that should be public. For God's sake we don't even know who the rebels really are.

The other thing that really gets me is the idea that we need to be part of other groups like Nato and the UN while not actually declaring war and the idea of involvement with Nato and the UN garners a lot of support from those in the republican party and a lot of conservatives, one excuse being used is to support our allies but brings up the question who are out allies? If we are running the show, it comes up to the point that what we agreed on with Nato when it was conceived is not what we are doing with it now. The Soviet threat is no longer there, the European Union has its own fighting force, France, Belgium and other countries don't have a German threat hanging over them so what are we doing being involved with Nato?

So if he is going to stand there and say "so what? I will do what I want", it is the fault of those in congress and those in the media and the citizens at large who pushed for the action in Libya in the first place under the bullsh*t that we need to spread Democracy.

Want to change it?

So let's define a war as any military action for any reason that takes more than a few days, let congress pass a law saying that the president has the authority to take action when we are attacked but nothing more than that unless he justifies his actions BEFORE it takes place. Granada and Panama were not wars, they were military actions that seemed to be defined and limited in their action.

i think these are the key words . he does not need to follow the law but you and me have too.

""So if he is going to stand there and say "so what? I will do what I want", it is the fault of those in congress and those in the media and the citizens at large who pushed for the action in Libya in the first place under the bullsh*t that we need to spread Democracy."'

what citizens said we need to be go in Libya .

""" so what are we doing being involved with Nato? ""

good question . war on drugs sounds like something the Nato can be looking at .stopping the terriest , pirate, groups it should not be just up to the USA to do it

I you guys love this "constituionaly" Obama doesn't need congressional approval its Commander in Chief is a contitutional power not a statutorial power. Only congress can declare war but as long as it ain't a war Obama can do wht he wants. Precedence goes all the way to George Washington and the whiskey rebellion.

If congress does not like OBamas use of force they can "Defund" it or impeach him.

The rest of that stuff is just political theater.

Yep that's the entire point they can but they will not. They approved it, most of congress with support him and his operations and life will go on as it has since 1950.
