HOS/Log Book issues US to Ontario

Haven't posted in awhile but figured if anyone could help me with this one you guys here would know.

The HOS in Ontario is different than in US (as of Jan 2007). If my truck starts a load in US, crosses the border and continues on the run what on earth does he do about logging the trip?

Canadian logs require different things and their HOS is different so there could be an occasion that what would have been a legal run in US is going to be a violation after he crosses the border into Ontario. How do they handle this?

Or can you point me in a direction to read up on this.

Canadian Hours of Service Stickers
While traveling in Canada, U.S.-based units are held to Canadian Hours of Service regulations. The differences between U.S. and Canadian regulations are minimal, but some items are required by Canada that aren’t required in the U.S. For instance, each driver in a vehicle should have a page of stickers that need to be attached to his or her logs when traveling in Canada. The stickers provide space to write down the Start Time and Beginning and Ending Odometer reading.

New - 2 cycles - Cycle 1-- 70 Hours/7Days, Cycle 2 -- 120 Hours/14days -- Driver must take off-duty 36 hours if switching from Cycle 1 to Cycle 2. Driver must take 72 hours off-duty if switching from Cycle 2 to Cycle 1.

Drivers can reset their cycle by taken -- Cycle 1 - 36 hours continuous off-duty. Cycle 2 - 72 hours continuous Off-Duty.
Driver required to put under "REMARKS" what cycle (1 or 2) the driver is running under.

All drivers now required to take 24 hours off, every 14 days.
Maximum -- 13 hours driving
Maximum -- 14 hours on-duty
Maximum -- 16 hours elapsed time for the day. This is calculated from end of last 8 hour break to the start of current 8 hour break .

New 8 hours off-duty must be continuous

All Drivers must have 10 hours of rest --

Must have total 10 hours rest in duty day. 24 hour period

New - The 8 hours must be continuous, (off-duty) and no less the 30 min blocks for the other two hours. Together a driver must have 10 hours rest in 24 hour period.

If using the Sleeper Berth, than both periods must be logged in the sleeper berth , and the 2nd period must be no less than two hours, both the 8 hours and 2 hours must be logged on line 2 Sleeper berth, No Off-Duty.

Teams - Must log a minimum of 4 hours sleeper berth. i.e. 4 and 6, 5 and 5, 6 and 4, all are ok, where as an 8 and 2 would violate this rule.

New Deferment of hours --
Despite sections 12 and 14, a driver who is not splitting off-duty time in accordance with section 18 or 19 may defer a maximum of 2 hours of the daily off-duty time to the following day if

(a) the off-duty time deferred is not part of the mandatory 8 consecutive hours of off-duty time;

(b) the total off-duty time taken in the 2 days is at least 20 hours;

(c) the off-duty time deferred is added to the 8 consecutive hours of off-duty time taken in the second day;

(d) the total driving time in the 2 days does not exceed 26 hours; and

(e) there is a declaration in the "Remarks" section of the daily log that states that the driver is deferring off-duty time under this section and that clearly indicates whether the driver is driving under day one or day two of that time.
