If you have been reading the forum for two years, you should have some idea who the straight shooters are. Also, don't think that just because one person says something positive and another negative that one or the other is the straight shooter. They could both be right or both be wrong even with opposing attitudes. Take advantage of using private messages. Ask people to clarify things off-thread in a pm if you are wondering about something they mention. You'll sometimes get more open responses than you would in a open thread.

As for how you responded--since this topic is directly related to the questions you originally asked, it's probably easier to follow the conversation if you had responded to your own question by clicking on "post reply" at the bottom of your original thread, and the conversation would remain one thread of conversation.

Hey here is some serious sound advice.

Set your goals, figure out where you want to be next year and write it down.

Then go and figure out what you owe, what you have and then how much will it take to maintain your home and stuff.

Then go back and look at your goals.

After that then start to ask about companies.

Most of the biggest mistake people make is limiting themselves to thinking that one company is better than others. Many here think jumping on with FedEx will make them million dollar expediters but that is far from the truth.

See a company should fit the person and their goals. But one company may be good for one person while for another it is horrible. AND it takes time to gather and filter what is best.

Don't ask "are you running well" or "what rates are you making" - that's not the right questions. ASK instead how the company works, or ask to see what the process is like being a driver from an offer to a delivery.

Unless you drive for someone else say for 6 months to get your feet wet, then the risk of making a mistake is there as an owner and only when you can't afford to change companies, it becomes the real problem.

The other thing is many people are so protective of their incomes it seems too funny. They can't help what hey get form the company and sometimes act as it was a state secret. When you ask about revenue, remember that a lot of people won't tell you and others will not tell you the truth.

Nations Express is doing you the BIGGEST favor by not calling you back. That company is in the "snitter".;)
