Nothing like a good outing to Cracker Barrel ..... and chicken and dumplings!

Thanks for the company Phil and Diane ... was nice finally meeting up with you.

Here is a couple of more pics I have stored somewhere here on EO, but I can never figure out how to see them unless I chose to post them in a thread.

Remember me saying I converted D-1136 to a tractor?

Likewise, Monte. It was a pleasure for Diane and me to meet you too. It was especially interesting to learn that you put the first-ever reefer in service with Roberts Express (predecessor to FedEx Custom Critical). May I ask you to post the photo of that truck here on EO? It is an item of expedite history that should be forever archived.

D-1136 ..... Roberts Express FIRST "DR" type truck.

A 1985 Peterbilt 385 .... it had a Cummins C series engine and a 7 speed Spicer tranny.

When taken to Cummins in Cincinatti for repairs, something interesting was discovered. They could reference NO part numbers!

They discovered the truck, when built, had no engine available, so a military spec'ed Cummins was installed. Talk about a mess .... had to special order parts from Cummins.

That sleeper was a "condo" though there was hardly enough room to stand, it had about 20" from the front wall to the bunk. But we managed, it seldom sat still long enough the top bunk was needed.

Thank you for the pictures as I will add them to the EHOF website. Can you tell me please what year that reefer did it's first load with Roberts Express.

I can not ...... but, it was a year old when I bought it .. the original owner had it leased to MediQwik .... most likely 1986 when it did the first run ..
