Yes yes yes but the problem is the knee jerk reaction of both the air line industry and the feds - both ignore the advice of other countries where you don't feel like a prisoner or rudely treated and really a lot less problems than we do.

Can someone please show me the law that states that commercial drivers are not allowed to carry? As far as i know and found it its not illegal for us to carry its just most companies do not allow it. Please someone give me some cold hard facts not just, well i heard it from a friend of a friend.

Also i will state that sometime i should be going through the steps on obtaining my CCW as well as my girlfriend. I'm hoping that i wont just be one of the holders that gets a gun and never uses it ever again. I've meet some pretty good gun folks in the past months and also i've came to realize i would like to try my hand at a IDPA event which teaches you how to shoot and handle your pistol in case you do need it by having you take difficult shots or shots at different angles. Also i've been trying to do some research about being an Auxillary Police or Reservist as some call it. I dont know the full details on that but it seems interesting to me.

I'm glad michigan has the "shall issue" law, but we're planning on moving to Iowa soon and they ahve a "may-issue" law thats up to the county sherrifs to decide if you should have a permit or not and whats the rules and regulations to your permit.

People prepare for terrorist by stocking food and water. I prepare by stocking guns and ammo!!!

Some drivers do need to be able to carry some sort of weapon, but as was said, the "CB Rambos" would get carried away, and you'd have two licensed to carry drivers taking pot shots in the middle of the parking lot.

I never carried more than a 'tire thumper' in the truck, and never had anyone try anything.... I guess one of the few benefits of looking like me, is that the bums probably figured I wasn't worth the trouble. :) ( people who've met me will get that...LOL)

I think those that should be able to carry are those such as the White Glove, and Elite, and what ever "specialized" freight haulers out there. Anyone that hauls high dollar, high value type loads needs away to protect themselves. A tire thumper is decent but if someone has even a knife your pretty much in trouble.

Leo is right on the money. If you have a clean background and a CCW permit, (which shouldn't be the fight it is to get if you have a clean background), you should be able to take it in your truck, (which is your home really when you're out working). Beyond that, you should be able to take it in your car, your bike, whatever. That is the 2nd Amendment. We are entitled to be granted the privileges of the US Constitution. I know I fought for it. I do agree that proficiency standards should be set. If someone that lawfully carries, is incompetent with a weapon, it could be taken from them and used against others. (On a plane, an untrained person could be a real danger). I also have a problem with certain states usurping my right to carry within their borders. Now, besides the 2nd Amendment, their violating my rights under the 14th Amendment which says the "no state shall make or enforce a law that shall abridge the privileges or immunities of the citizens of the United States." As to what Unorthodoxeven says, I don't agree with that. Why just let just the "high dollar" carrier drivers, (ie: TVAl, White Glove, Elite)carry?. First of all, the average crackhead, rapist, street criminal, etc, has no idea of the value inside the truck and they are the ones that you most likely will have to defend yourself against, and they have no clue about the "difference in trucking divisions". They are out to rob the 10 bucks in your wallet. The people that are organized and know that Elite or White Glove might have a high-priced load, you're going to have a tough time against them anyway. Secondly, I have a right to carry if I'm driving a dump truck. I'm clean, and I'm trained. That's why I feel safe at home. If you get by my three big dogs, (and they know the difference between our friends and the bad guys), then I know they've warned me and slowed you up enough so I was able to aim.

One more thing...Greg...Justus made a great point, GUN CONTROL LAWS ALWAYS LEAD TO A SPIKE IN CRIME, VIOLENT AND OTHERWISE. (and it's always funny when the vocal well-off "anti-gun crowd" darn sure have armed guards protecting them).
