They raised the tolls over on 278 to $18 an axle when they did the GWB.

Yh'a, they charge per Axle, even if the lift axle is up.
maybe i'd build some sort of side skirt to hide the Lift axle when it's up.
or maybe something like the jet planes have.

Moose that would envolve spending more money on your part just to save, Im sure the Co you drive for would be happy if it worked but the Bottom line is either way its going to cost you. Better would be all loads the companies pay the tolls for the freight or they loads just dont get done.
If everyone stuck to that, those 2nd and 3rd party broker loads would go away (Hopefully and turn into 1st party thus given the Truck more bucks to do the Job.

The load may start out paying realy good but when they get down to being 2nd and 3rd out by diff brokers by that time the price of the freight is so water down one cant afford to run the load.
No matter how you slice it the run shoud include the total price of the tolls in all fareness. The truck should not have to pay to run haul their freight. We should not have to take a loss.

I agree: in expedite, tolls should be paid by the shipper, as part of the door to door service. Especially when they're unavoidable, like the bridges.

They often are. If They are not mentioned in the load offer I automatically ask when going to the east coast.Occasionally they say no but asking generally gets them paid for me.
