So anyhows the GF&P have been pinpointed and ambushed for budget cuts since before I moved out to SD and justly so because they seem to think they can do inspections for poachers or whatever on private land in the name of doing their job without the landowners permission.

Seems after many budget cuts and being accused of not running a conservative budget...they now have a NEW policy...

When any politician wants a report that is not justified or required...there is now a FEE for printing one up...*LOL*

The local politicians are irrate over this as they can not get FREE information from the GS&P as ammunition to cut their budget!!!

That has always been a tough one everywhere. Game animals are NOT owned in the U.S. like they are in most other countries. They are a "public natural resource". Since they do not remain solely on public property, they often move on private property, they need to be watched, checked on etc for management purposes. They should be getting a warrant to do that IF in an enforcement role. They still need probable cause and, at least out here, seldom cross onto private land unless they witness a crime in progress. They normally, at least in states that I know about, talk to land owners first if doing research and need access to private lands.
