Freedom has outlived its life expectancy in Americ

Empires fall and dictators are overthrown. What makes us think that freedom in America will last forever? According to the history books a country based on freedom and economic liberty will last a little over 200 years. Don't look now but I think we are living on borrowed time. Or are we? I think we have already given up our freedoms. Slowly, without much fanfare, our freedoms have been taken away from us.

This country was not founded as a democracy. It was a republic and my use of past tense is correct. Our founders feared a democracy and established a republic. A republic is governed by the rule of law and not majority rule as a democracy is. Majority rule is what has gotten us in the shape we are in now. That is how our constitution has gradually been changed people. That is how we have lost our individual rights and freedoms. Our founding fathers were specifically against and fearful of a graduated progressive tax system, government employed educators and majority rule. Majority elected representatives is as far as that went and they shouldn't have been able to rewrite laws to suit their needs. The progressive ablility of politicians to practice this is what has led to the state our current political system is currently in. Politicians with the ability to redistribute (take my money and give it to someone else by force) wealth is and will be the downfall of freedom in this nation.

So true so true...from Khan to Napoleon even Spain WAS a super power once they all fell...The U.S. will implode as well, the makings are in the works, the Patroit act for one(chipping away the Constitution), immigration ie: multiculturalism, lobbys are out of hack, politicians don't do thier constituents wishes.

dixie52 and I thought I was the only one waiting for the axe to fall! I do hope that we are the ones that are incorrect. As they say, the future is only our past revisisted. Until we actually learn as a people to advance, I am afraid that we are doomed to float in our own stagnant waters.

It doesn't have to be that way. A wise people learn from the past. Apparently there's more important things on the agenda than learning. And that's exactly what the "powers that be" planned. Don't let them fool ya. As bad as things are, someone has a set of blueprints out there; and I'm guessing it's right on schedule.

Hey Tennesseahawk: good response, very compassionate, I liked it
BUT and I know you were waiting for that...I agree that I leave things
like that to HIM. The only thing I am sure of is that I know I'm not
in charge. Man has a nasty habit of staying with things/ways that are
familiar and destroying anything that may challenge that comfort zone.
History is written by the victor, and control must happen for victory.
I'm being very gender specific here when I say that control,(for world
events)is a male dominated area. You only have to look at any history
book or even a newspaper to realize this. I am not bashing anyone just stating facts. I could debate this through a dozen screens and then some but I will end with this. Until our leaders understand they
serve the people and stop playing "king of the mountain",history will
continue to repeat itself.
