Probably will wind up being the "Less Leftist" party but at least it's movement in the correct direction, if less than ideally so.

Tea party.....
Libertarian party.....
The Tea Party was a political movement, not a political party. The Libertarian Party is a political party that has been around for a long time. They regularly field candidates in local, state and national elections. They have little impact because their views do not align with a large percentage of American voters. They are too far "out there" to achieve critical mass.

A national Forward Party organizer posted this on Twitter today:

"This time last year, @Fwd_Party activists didn’t know each other. Now, I’m watching them work together each and every day. They’ve built a team of more than 7,500 activists. They’re brilliant, dedicated and humble. It’s a joy to experience."

That is no small start. When you have 7,500 activists, many of them highly skilled, many of them working toward this for years with various entities, and when you have funding too, you have a good shot at producing significant party growth. You also have roughly 30% of the population already rejecting the two other parties, and a whole bunch more ready to leave the Democratic and Republican parties as soon as a viable alternative comes into view.

A very very very slighter leftist party under the guise of “centrist”.

All they need is to elect a couple of governors or Senators from significant states to start attracting some attention - and money. If only Elon Musk would sign up...

Better, I think, for money to come from the grass roots.

After announcing the Forward Party a couple days ago, Andrew Yang posted this today.

"What a launch for #Forward Party!n the last 48 hours we reached nearly 40M Americans on TV & radio and saw 500+ articles in most major outlets, including our OpEd in the Washington Post. 20K+ Americans joined Forward as members, volunteers, & donors in all 50 states!"

This is going to be FUN!

History may not repeat itself, but it rhymes.
Yep. Just as the Republican party emerged and supplanted the Whig Party to create what is today's two-party system, it is entirely possible the Forward Party will supplant the Republican Party or the Democratic Party. Of the two, I think the odds favor the end of the Republican Party as it's platform and leadership are too rigid to adapt.

It's hard to say who this new party will effect, but my money would be on the Democrats. The new liberal party leadership and their platform allows no room for flexibility or compromise among the ranks, and one needs look no further than Sens Manchin and Sinema to what happens to them when they occasionally stray off the party path. All the others vote in lock step.

Democrats and their policies have been soundly rejected by the majority of the country since they took control in 2021. Their figurehead POTUS is polling at dismally low approval levels, and they have a coterie of some of the worst mayors of major cities in US history.

It's easy to understand how a 3rd party would sprout under these circumstances, and it's only logical to consider the track record of 3rd parties of the past. The most recent was Ross Perot and the Reform Party, which was primarily a grassroots movement.

The FP comes somewhere between the D and R parties. The problem is we've got Left, Lefter and Leftest. In the last of the good days you had JFK and his party around 4.x on the 0-10 scale and Ike and his party in the 6.x range. Not ideal but at least not nation destroying like we now have with FJB at 0.x and Cornyn and all his worthless bum ilk hovering at 2.5 and the rest of the republicans maybe at 4.x with x being zero to two, like good JFK democrats. Trump is unpolished, tweets mean and you might not cross the street to shake his hand but at least when it comes to the country he's on the right (as in correct) side of 5.

Considering the recession we're entering maybe we should have more mean tweeting. But even a modest step to the right with FP beats another 4 years of destroy America. Only works if they can oust the alcoholic and others too though.

I was intensely involved in Perot '92. In July of that year, he lead Bush and Clinton in the polls. Then his ego got the best of him and he crashed and burned. But I will never forget the sight and emotions and energy of the millions of people, independents, Republicans and Democrats alike, who spontaneously rose up to say yes to something new and no to the other two.

At this point, the Forward Party is different. There is no presidential campaign underway (at least not out in the open) and no candidate to be the Party's face. For now, the people rising up (by the thousands in just two days) are rising to do the grass roots work needed to win in later years.

The Reform Party was an attempt to organize a national party out of the Perot campaign wreckage. It did not succeed for a variety of reasons. The Forward Party people are fond of saying this is a different time and they are absolutely correct. In Perot's day, the internet was dial-up, cell phones were cinder-block size, fax was hi-tech, and social media was barely a thought. Now, everyone has a phone on them and you can reach millions instantly.

Additionally, the Forward Party is the combination of three predecessor entities, all of which bring multi-state and high caliber leadership to the table. Back in 1992, Reform Part leadership was a fragmented mess of people who knew little of the political game. The steering committee leadership at the Forward Party national level and several states are amazing. They are former Republicans and Democrats who used to play large in their respective parties. They know the game and play it well.

If they can syphon off roughly 3 percent of the net Republican vote that would have gone for Trump in 2024 their objective will be fulfilled.

In an effort to find out more specifics about this new party I went to their website - www.fwdtogether.org - which sounds nice, but only provides generalities. Wikipedia at least offers a few tidbits that seem reliable:

* Co-chairs are Andrew Yang and former NJ Gov Christine Todd Whitman
* The party ideology includes "Human Centered Capitalism" aka Humanistic Capitalism. This means they endorse a "universal basic income" and businesses operating on a "just enough profit" model. Sounds like the govt will decide what is "just enough". This sounds suspiciously like Socialism.

If they embrace Humanistic Capitalism as stated, then Humanism is its kissing cousin which advocates among other things, the educational philosophy that parents don't own their children.

"...humanists reply parents do not own their children and hence do not have such a right. They argue children should be raised to make their own choices, respecting their autonomy.[70]"

Yang advocated the universal basic income during his presidential campaign. If the Forward Party embraces that along with the above Humanist educational position they won't get very far with mainstream Americans.

IMHO, they're going to pull voters who are more alienated by the Democrat messengers than the party message.
