What kind of crap response is this? I'd expect better of you. You're far too intelligent for such a narrow minded thinking process. Ever since you posted this it has been on my mind. It stuck in my craw.

Jamuary 29th 2007 I'll be a legal resident of the U.S. and then I can apply for citzentry. Is it then I can advocate change of the system???
Your responce seems to say... new immigrants shouldn't advocate change on the U.S. ways. When I am an OLD immigrant then can I? When do I get my constitutional rights to voice my opinion?

For over 250 years the U.S. has been in constant change as has my country and many others..
I just don't know where your coming from on this....

Hey how come Lawrence can say his piece? He's an immigrant?

I have no problem with anyone voicing their opinions at all myself.

My question would be this though...

There must be a REASON you came to the US? Is it better than where you came from? If so, then why would you want to change how the US is to be more like the place you just left because the US is better? If there are parts of both countries you like and parts you do not, then why not try and change the things you do not like so much in your OLD country? Just my Opinion.

I have no problem with people bringing their customs from where they are. What I do have problems with is people coming here and not learning the language. There are county and state offices in the US that have to have forms printed in over 50 languages. That is just plain stupid. Any time I am living in another country, I try and learn as much of their language as I can. It is in my opinion disrespectful not to. In the early 1900 there were many families form places like Italy and such that the children would be scolded if they did not speak english. The parents knew that it was important for them to know it to fit in and be successful.

Well we have one poed Canadian on Christmas Eve. You certainly have made your comments on US Health care known. What is your point? 99% of the immigrants come here or to another Country for a better life with more opportunites for them and their children. Why is it important for a new immigrant or old one to advocate changes here. Why didn' you try to advocate whatever changes you want in your old country before you left.

Sorry Rich.. I guess my timing stinks...I am not really poed.

Answer to both your main question as to why I came here.

My wife is an American thru and thru... I have no predisposition toward either country. I love my native land and They have thier own weaknesses in policies. Our move back to the U.S. fulfills a promise i made to my wife who also drives with me. Many years ago she moved to Canada cuase my kids were just entering thier teens they are now all grown up. We bought the wifes mothers property in South Dakota as a retirement move. No state income tax! And no Mortgage and some income from the land that pays the taxes.
One thing we've both learned that there is almost no difference between Americans and Canadians at the grassroots level. Both are just trying to make a living and raise thier families the best they can. Both are democracys and believe in the same basic rights and freedoms. I enjoy both countrys equally.

My wife just read this over my shoulder and wanted me to add that she too likes both countrys equally. But shes an American first. She goes on to say if they took the border out...you'd never know you were in another country.

My anger is not the immigrants who come in and try to keep their old ways, to a point. I'm pizzed at those who come here and try to force it down our throats. The ILLEGALS marching in the streets come to mind. I'm also angry at those who come here and expect everything to conform to them. The ILLEGALS again come to mind. I'm also angry at our system not holding onto what America was, and allowing it to bend to what the newcomers want. The inexcusable actions of our government comes to mind, as well as Walmart putting Spanish on everything.

America has been very touchy-feely when it comes to customs. Here in Michigan, a mosque is allowed to bellow out prayers five times a day in an area where there are very few Muslims (Hamtrammack). Yet, if they :censoredsign: about church bells, all of a sudden it's a noise issue. Different races and religions are coddled and prefered by everything from news to college applications. I'm just an average white guy. Do I get any preferences? Not that I want any, but "ALL MEN ARE CREATED EQUAL" comes to mind!

T.H... I absolutely agree with ya. Here in Canada the minority rules..
All this crap of not saying Merry Christmas is just one case example. All these signs saying Happy Holidays. In all my 56 years the Christians and the Jewish have co-existed with no problems..Happy Honaka (sp)Never a complaint and now all these Islams, Moslums, Atheists are up in arms about Christmas. Now that PMO!

I want MY Christmas back!

Hi

I wonder if since both the US and Canada are such new countries we just don't have a culture or tradition that we can force down other people throat. You never hear of Americantown or Canandian cuisine.
