I was wondering if someone may be able to tell me if there are any owners looking for drivers,from Ohio to the Windy City.GM is closing down in two weeks,and I drive local tractor trailer,near Defiance Ohio.I have 3 yrs expedite experience.I will be bored out of my mind during shutdown.I would like to drive a van.Any help would be appreciated.

My two cents - assuming you are just looking to run during Christmas Shutdown.

That time period expedite freight will be slow, plus two weeks is a very short time to put anyone in a truck. The costs to put you in the truck would very likely exceed what it was worth.

I'd suggest looking at a florist or something like that that needs help around Christmas for deliveries.

GM closing plants?

I thought that the big strike was done top protect those jobs.

He is talking about the yearly Christmas shutdown. They shut the plants down around Christmas and Independance Day to do repairs, maintenance and changes.

It's normally 2 weeks, if a plant needs to drop some production they can extend to 3 or more weeks.

Well what can I say... I know that they are shutting down plants and laying people off, where I don't know or care but I guess I had something on my mind when I posted it.
