Expedite load boards/backhauls?

Hello everyone,
Out of sheer bordem and being O/S for a intake gasket repair(Whoo Hooo):+ .I have searched some past archives and found one pertaining to this web site http://www.expediteloads.com/. Is this site part of EO?
I have been looking for a web based load board that a driver could log in and pick his/her load and found only fleet based or no help!!.Backhaul can't help me only D units or bigger when im out west or in a bad location.Just wondering what others use or have used in past that works good for a b unit?

I signed up for that board yesterday (since they don't offer a "trial" version to let you see loads but no contact info).

Now I know why they don't have a trial. Despite their name, they have NOOOOO expedite freight. A total of 4 FOUR! loads in the whole country.

There are other load boards that have a lot more for your money.

Well, they do have a trial. Just look for DEMO on the front page. It lets you see real available loads without shipper info. If you find three loads under 20,000 lbs in the country, that is exeptional.

In a cargo van, backhauls are rare - I had two in 9 months at Panther, and one of those was a preplanned, discount load from NYC to Ohio. The other, from Laredo to NC, just barely paid for the fuel, but I took it - the extremely hot sun had fried my brain, and I just wanted out of there, lol.
Backhauls are best if you can combine two or more nonexpedited loads, which just doesn't work in a cargo van - it's hard to find one load, more than that is mostly wishful thinking, IMO.

i've often wondered why someone doesn't start a brokerage service with backhauls and what not. maybe they have. it sounds like a good idea to me.

Well if it's just one or two pallets that would fit in a van, it's still cheaper to have them hauled by a LTL carrier in a semi. A number of years ago I managed a warehouse and dealt with the shipping contracts, what we paid for LTL shipping wouldn't have covered the fuel for a cargo van.
