Expedite Freight for LTL Prices

Who is responsible? Carriers who book loads and than proceed to find a warm body and a truck who will haul it at the lower rate. Or is it the expediters who accept the load and agree to expedite for LTL freight prices?

I am an expediter and I will do my best to get the load on my truck and delivered as quickly and safely as possible. But what I am getting lately is the load pays less than I have been receiving but I am asked to get to the pickup as quickly as possible and to expedite the delivery.

If I am doing LTL than don't ask me to expedite.

How do you feel about this?

That is the way I feel. The last load I hauled with my straight truck paid $1.00 a mile.I was ahead of schedule, and had more than enough time to do the load to begin with. But when dispatch called and asked for a position update, and I told them, there like, "We thought you'd be closer". I just replied,$1.00 a mile freight, $1.00 a mile driver. If you want expedite, pay expedite rates. We both laughed but knew it was true, and that I let them know it wasnt them, but the competition and alot of drivers accepting cheap --- freight that is screwing up this industry. The reason why I accepted that low-paying load was to get home to park the truck. And the reason for that was because of cheap-paying freight.Alot of this is our fault, as I have said before. And I know I am beating a dead horse here, and that nothing will change. It is completely up to us to control our destiny in this industry.
