I have a current DOT Medical card through the company I'm working for now, if I go to work for any expedited co. will I need to get one through them or will they accept my current one? I know some companies prefer to keep medical records "in house" or with a Med. center approved by them. Is it to your advantage to go to someplace like Concentra and get a DOT physical to help on getting an application processed quicker or will they just make you retake it through their company approved facility? Just curious. Tom.

I have found that some carriers will accept your valid DOT physical card while others will prefer you take another physical by their preferred doctor.

Heres how this works,in your brief case,you should have a copy of your long form physical,you only need to carry the smaller card the Dr signed,doesnt matter what trucking company issued the card,but you must carry that card,and as far as the long form physical paper,when you go to a different company for work,if this form is up to date,you shouldnt have to take a new physical

i know when i left e-1 and went to try hours(oops) they made me get a new one at try hours even though the one i had was not but 8 months old i had the long form and card but there policy was older than 6 months had to be redone, when i left there and went back to e-1, i gave them(e-1) my long form and card they copied it and away i went. each company has there own way and own rules for these things the only thing u should have to do is the pee-pee test but knowing in advance is the best thing to do.
