I have drove as a solo and a team. I highly prefer solo. I was forced into driving team when I was with one carrier by a fleet owner and hated it. I had nothing in common with my co-driver and he was not the most pleasant guy to be around.
Business wise - team driving keeps the truck moving 24/7 in alot of cases with the right carrier. So from that point it is great.
Solo driving, well, it takes alot more work, excellent trip planning, the ability to sleep when ever and where ever, eating quickly and taking JUST THE REQUIRED BREAKS you need to by DOT regulations. Anything more than those breaks and your not going to make it.
Bottom line, I can now make a living driving solo, and enjoy the time on the road by myself. I don't have to worry about making changes in my methods, plans etc etc to meet the needs of a co-driver. My decisions are made on my own and not in cooperation with a co-driver.
Teams in MOST cases is better left to the same household situations. You know each other better and their traits and all the money goes into the same kiddle.
