Direct Freight

Has anyone used the http://www.directfreight.com site?
If so - is the freight listed mainly from brokers or are there actually some shippers on there?
Also, stay away from realtimefreight.com as that is nothing more than cheap cheap cheap freight from shippers who can't even get a broker to take it!

Does anyone use this board?
Is it worth it?
Is there direct freight from shippers or just brokers?
I will then stop asking.

Looks ok to me. Never used it tho. What do they want for it?

$25 per month - but while you do a demo it does not tell you if those listed shipping are actually the shippers or nothing more than just brokers.....that is what I would like to see or know.

I actually called these people and at least they were honest - 9 out of 10 loads are from brokers.
No thanks for me!

Just out of curiosity, why does one care if load is direct from shipper or from a broker as long as the pay is same ??

That's the point. They aren't usually the same rate. Not saying all brokers are like this, but a small percentage of them take 50% of the rate, or more. Why the government can't stop this scalping (one thing the government actually has the obligation to do, but doesn't).

I worked as a dispatcher for a broker (boring) for a year and I can tell you most brokers don't do that. They charged 10% for the load and the rate they quoted was to the truck. They also payed as soon as they received the paperwork and before they collected from the customer. Most of thier freight was reefer stuff and large 45' to 53' loads but a rip off broker shouldn't last very long against decent competition. The customary charge in the broker business is 10 to 15 percent. I would be more worried about a fly by night broker paying me at all.

Correct - average fee of a broker is 10, 15 percent maybe as high as 18 but that is about it.
