Yucca mountain was opened last year, receiving the first shipments from the Savannah River Nuclear site next to where I live. When "Numb Nuts" got into office, one of his first priorities was to shut it down. It still has funding from the Bush years but until OH, OH, gets out of office nothing further will be done.
I hunted deer at the Savannah River Site a couple of times. When I shot a deer in another area of the state once they took a front quarter. They were checking back ground radiation levels to compare them to the deer at Savannah River. I never did find out the results.
