I just rented a movie this weekend called Defiance. It was an outstanding flick. It was about a Jewish family in Germany. Man,was that thought provoking ! Its a fairly new release, got it from the Redbox. I think people everywhere in the world just want to live their life and be left alone. Just let people go to work,enjoy their families,etc. Whenever someone gets power and becomes a leader and starts enacting laws that everyone must live according to the leaders idea of what/how life should be lived then you will have wars. The U.S was founded by men who tried to create a war free country. No fighting about religian like other countries. The right to have a say in how you live your life. No one can have absolute power. The right to free speech without punishment. And the right to bear arms against anyone who tries to take the protections of the Constitution away from the people. I know there are some who hate Republicans because their just a bunch of business men trying to get rich,but is that all you can criticize them for ? How about the Democrats ? They have been whittling away at the Constitution at every turn. Using good laws to create power for their party. They have been the racists thru out history ! It hasn't always been a two party political system. The government became so corrupt at one point, that a few good men went to D.C. and created the Republican Party. And we have been battling corruption ever since !

Man..you started out sounding pretty good, but then you had start preaching to the choir...

This is the Soapbox is it not ? Are you against Free Speech ? Are you among those who refuse to learn from history ? Your little one liners (preaching to the choir) might work in the liberal world of uneducated voters who are led by that sort of thing, but it doesn't work on me............

I don't ever intend to be impolite or disrespective, I am among the meek who watch the world turn round and round, lately it is turning so rapidly toward a one leader mindset in this country, that I must stand with those who question it.

Our country and more directly each person needs to step back from the its that parties fault or the other party did this or that...they are both corrupt and when one is in total charge as the dems are right now...the push for power is even worse..we are seeing that right now. BUT, most also realize that those in the backround of each party , the big donors, some big business and their money are the extreme control points. The extreme left, will not be happy until they have given the people the total impression that everything they are doing os for the good of the people and that they are just working to help the "little" guy..and helping give back to "main st" instead of "Wall St."....

There are good people in both parties but those that want nothing but control out number them and even the good ones soon get the head turned in a direction that they pleadged to stop when they were elected....

The people need to continue in their "Wakening" that we are seeing now...and work to take back control of both parties from the Extreme element that have over taken them..here is one guys idea of regainig the control of the Republican party and voting in people that are not the typical politicans......

This is a start, but also understand that there are biggerpowers that want to take our country and turn it over to a one world government and that is also the direction barry feels the need to go..the messiah needs to control, and the bigger the body that he can control..the brighter if "Glow" and aura becomes...so he thinks....

About the movie, it is an accurate portrayal of what happened with the Bielski partisans. The problem is that the movie would have been 4 hours long to tell it accurately with about a fourth detailing how Poland was partitioned, the Soviet occupation and then the German invasion of Russia.

The other thing that was left out was the Germans effort to find them, which in itself was a good story to illustrate the divsion among the people, and another key point missing is how the group ended up being devided between the brothers. One didn't go fight for the Soviets like in the movie, the entire group was support for the Soviets.

I actually just saw it Monday. I liked the cast but the accents slipped a bit here and there.

It did show how they were support for the soviets. the did sewing ,etc. they did it for food and supplies from the soviets.They didn't particulary like them but it was a means of survival and the Soviets were fighting the Germans who were murdering Jews. I thought it was a very good depiction of how humans can be humans, good and bad. And reminded me that evil hearts still lurk in the world today in so many countries.Didn't think to critic minor details.

Well I sort of agree, the movie was good but it could have been better. The details make the movie more accurate and instills more thought about what they went through if it is the intent of telling the story.

A lot of times artistic license is taken for entertainment purposes and the historical facts are left on the floor to be swept into the bin. The problem with this is that people tend to believe that the movie is factual. Patch Adams is one that used the story not to tell about Adams work but as a vehicle for Williams.

In this case, the soviets were just as bad to the people in general as the Germans were to the Jews. The soviets didn't look at which group to kill - Jew or Gentile were the same - they just killed anyone. The NKVD was the driving force behind a lot of the problems and it should have been mentioned in the movie why the Soviets were there.

The issue in the movie for me that is important is how the soviets were veiwing the group, they were not viewed as a group of jews as mentioned a few times who were below them but as equals and the group almost became part of the soviet army, not seperate as in the movie. The other thing that comes to mind is that they didn't depend on the soviets for food, that was taken from the villigers when they needed it.
