Freddie and Fannie own thousands of homes in Michigan and elsewhere because of the foreclosure crisis.

Oakland County says it has lost $1.5 million in the last six years because of tax dodging, while the state has lost $10.5 million in Oakland County. The county filed a federal lawsuit Monday, saying back taxes are owed; Ingham County filed a state suit Wednesday

wow two big companys that the big wigs make millions and they are not paying their taxes.funny how fannie and freddie are two huge companys that the democrats love.cant wait to see how this turns out.

You really have to put this into context of what is really going on to understand the real issue - Oakland county is almost broke and the executive of the county has yet to make any move to improve his county.

L Brooks Paterson has been controlling the county for a few decades now and it is in poor shape - from roads to the cities like Pontiac, it is a third world county. It used to have the richest square mile in the country 30 years ago but now barely has any good roads.

Paterson has been a great big supporter of Detroit, instead of his county which makes me wonder what planet he is from. The people seem to be ignorant to how their representative should be fighting for them, not for another city in another county. He had opportunities to take the business away from Detroit, like the auto show but seemed to help keep it in Cobo in the middle of the gheto. He could have fought against the casinos licensing issue but instead has been hopeful that the idiots in lansing change the law to allow them to continue. IF you ever want to see how a politician craps on the people he is supposed represent, Paterson is a perfect example.

No it actually has little to do with the revenue from the homes they own, this has been a problem for the past 6 years. It has to do with the mismanagement of the county and how their budget is setup. Wayne county is in the same situation, the county has done a lot of 'improvements', refuses to cut employment and has committed itself to things like cobo expansion, the second bridge expansion, so on. The loss of revenue would rather dictate the closing of services, the cutting of employees and other cost cutting measures.
