converting transmissions to autoshift

If I understand correctly an autoshift is a 3 pedal system using the clutch at standstill and then shifting the remaining shifts rather than the driver rowing the lever. In that case, what would be involved in converting a rower to an autoshift? It seems simple in thought and theory but I have no clue. Thanks for any information available.

Leo,

Converting an existing transmission to an Autoshift would likely be cost prohibitive.

Keep in mind that the electronic package for the transmission is integrated with the engine's electronics. It may be difficult to retro-fit an Autoshift into a truck now equipped with a manual shift trans.

Check out: www.roadranger.com under the products/transmissions menu you can check out both the Autoshift (clutch is driver operated) and Ultrashift (clutch is operated by the electronics...no pedal in the cab) versions. There are also PDF manuals on the different transmissions.

Hope this is helpful,

Rex

It would be expensive to say the least.
Replacing with a remanufactured one would be a better bet.
That also, is not a cheap adventure.
Some of this will depend on what you are trying to accomplish.
R2R has a great link source.
