Commander In Chief Obama

Here's a transcript from a speech Obama made in 2007 to a left-wing group called Caucus For Priorities:

YouTube - IN 52 SECS WHY BARACK OBAMA WON'T WIN THE GENERAL ELECTION

"As president, I will end misguided defense policies and stand with Caucus for Priorities in fighting special interests in Washington. First, I'll stop spending $9 billion a month in Iraq. I'm the only major candidate who opposed this war from the beginning -- and as president, I will end it. Second, I will cut tens of billions of dollars in wasteful spending. I will cut investments in unproven missile defense systems. I will not weaponize space. I will slow our development of future combat systems, and I will institute an independent defense priorities board to ensure that the Quadrennial Defense Review is not used to justify unnecessary spending. Third, I will set a goal of a world without nuclear weapons. To seek that goal, I will not develop new nuclear weapons; I will seek a global ban on the production of fissile material, and I will negotiate with Russia to take our ICBMs off hair-trigger alert and to achieve deep cuts in our nuclear arsenals. You know where I stand."

OK class, let's have a show of hands: how many would like to see this guy as the next Commander in Chief of our armed forces? Keep in mind what's recently gone on with Russia, that Pakistan (with nuclear weapons) is in political upheaval, and that Iran is in the process of going nuclear as soon as they possibly can.

Well here is something that some people better really wake up and get with the program.

Pakistan is going to be a problem in the near future, there is a shakeup going on internally, a big fight is brewing between factions like the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) and the Pakistan Muslim League or PML (q and n), the major parties. There is already splits in the PML over the US/Taliban issues and with India/Pakistan issues bubbling up. The fear I am starting to have is since Musharraf resigned, we will lose more allies within the government and they will comprimise any operations we have in the region, in addition to seeing a major shift in attitude toward us as a country siding with India. I heard that the one thing that some in the PPP have been using has been the rhetoric of Obama saying he will invade Pakistan if he has the chance, this has reinforced the PPP's message to the people to rally them against US intervention in the hills along the border.

Words have meaning dummy.

Sorry to bring religion into this. But, we really need to keep our voters in prayer this November. Pray they have the wisdom to vote for our safety. Know that McCain will bring something new to the table while keeping somethings from the past that have proven to be effective. (maintaining our military) Plus, keep our taxes low.

What good is it if Obama could bring a healthier economy, but considerably raise our taxes? If all those corporate and personal taxes go up...wont our insurance rates (health, life, and property) also go up too? Some other costs we have may go up with the taxes as well. If our exenses and taxes are higher...could we end up working harder just to at best break even?

what he didn't say but should have is 'if i don't have to support the mlitary i have more money to spend on social welfare programs.' he has no intention of spending less, just wants to spend it on other things.

it seems that 'politicians' with no military experence seem to always know what is needed and will spare no expense to do it. its a shame there isn't a requirement for 'commander in chief' to have some real world knowledge of what the military does, what a soldier contends with to accomplish the mission, and a reality check of the impact on the family.

not that this is a typical example but back in the mid 70's was assigned to italy. after the wife arrived during her first year in country i was gone 'tdy' (temporary duty assignment) three different times for a total of six months - leaving her on her own in a strange country. family support wasn't a high priority back then. working long hours with no 'overtime' not to mention weekends and holidays was required. just as 'expediting' is a lifestyle not suitable for everbody so is the military. its hard on familys.

his stated purpose of disarming america sounds like a nice idea, but history shows that 'nations' unable (or unwilling) to protect themselves are soon taken over by -or subjecated to - those more aggressive . for him to say spending for weapon systems is waste indicates a lack of understanding (or a unwillingness to ackowledge the need) of military power.

i have no doubt he would be worse for the military than carter or clinton were. the fact that his social agenda will bankrupt the nation seems to escape his supporters.

I like these two points. Well said! Your other stuff was good too, though. I just cut the quote down for the sake of brevity.

I think most of his supporters know this. But, hope to be proven wrong. Denial may be a key word here. His supporters have decided they dont like Bush or the Republicans to the point where ignorance takes over. When that happens they will fall for anything.

So many of his following say Bush and the Republicans are to blame for our lagging economy. But, they refuse to accept three things. 1. Congress has more power than the President. 2. The economy took the worst turn after the Dems took over congress two years ago. 3. During those "glory years" (When Clinton was President) and the economy was good, the Republicans were in charge of congress. Coincidence?

Well there are a number of things that will become reality.

1 - universal healthcare, aka socialized medicine based on the Medicare platform.

2 - a shift in taxes with a complicated formula to tax more people who 'don't pay their fair share', like the trucker who grosses more than $125k a year

3 - the right to work bill, the biggest change in unionization since the 40's. This will eliminate the secret ballot, put in place only a petition and do away with any laws that prevent forcing the end of the right to work states.

4 - amnesty for invaders, with sweeping immigration reforms.

5 - a return of the 'assault' weapons ban with no grandfathering. This will include a serious series of laws to reverse the latest 2nd amendment decisions.

6 - the nationalization of electrical power companies, the nationalization of oil companies and the nationalization of health care because after 5 years with socialized medicine, the hospitals and doctors will be going out of business and the feds will have to step in to 'save' the industry.

7 - the most important the return of a modern fairness doctrine. This time it will address things like copy right issues, access to personal equipment and computer files and most of all beside stifling free speech on the air waves, it will address 'problems' that the congress and the left has had to deal with on the INTERNET. This will be the real issue, this has been discussed quietly and stems from the anger of the senate over the people telling congress that they did not want the invaders to become citizens. This will put us on the same level as pre-war England and the Soviet Union on the historical side but make us equal to China on the modern side of things. This is also to squash the Citizen Journalist that Brian Williams and others have said openly need to be stopped in order to preserve their rights under the consitution.

Start learning our soon to be new anthem, because we are going to see what Marxism is all about first hand.

DO you know how to spell Gulag, comrade?

As someone else said I'm not trying to throw religon in this. If you get a chance watch the movies "Left Behind" that have Kirk Carmeron (from the Growing Pains) in them. Pay special attention to the man that plays the leader of the UN. He is supposedly a European fellow by the name of Nicoleye. Tell me who that character reminds you of in real life.

Actually Jay, I am getting nervous because as I have been seeing for the past 9 years and as Michelle Malkin can attest to, there is so much hatred stirred up that I can't see him losing with his position to please everyone. The one thing I do think that would be good is getting McCain in with the platform of his adminstration is an extenstion of Bush, the Dems in Congress won't work with him or the repubs at all and if the repubs (who are losing their F***ing mind with their platform) get straight and start fighting to prevent veto proof bills hitting the POTUS's desk, then we have some chance of slowing things down.

The repubs want to focus on abortion and global warming, the first they should drop trying to convince anyone about for right now, but the latter they should be fighting against it. They won't be going on the invaders issue or the economy for some d*mn reason. If McCain gets in, I think people need to tell the repubs to go away. If Obama gets in, then they should just go away and let people join the libertarian party.

ALSO I forgot one other thing -

8 - Cap and Trade, the biggest reform to the economy. They will push this through and within 5 years, we will not be on the road, out taxes and cost of everything will be unbleivable and if we survive, we won't have to worry about global warming, because we may be struggling just to keep warm in the winter and cool in the spring - forget a/c in the summer. The GAO came out with a report explaining that the study they did showed not only a runious economy but we would not be able to recover from it.

Sad, right comrade?

Yeah, kind of reminds me of the move Independence Day. You know when that one guy gives the big speech before the battle?

On a more positive note... Obama dont seem to be getting a jump in his pole numbers. One would think that during the Dems convention and after Hillary's big speech last night he would see some gain. Too bad for him. LOL I wager McCain gets a bit of a boost during the Repubs convention next week. :::fingers crossed::: Even commentators on the Communist News Network say the Repubs are pretty good at tearing their opponets apart. It seems they feel next week will be brutal for comrade Obama. LOL
