Chicago--save yourselves

Everybody thinking you'll just go to the Chicago area because freight is slow, don't. There are 130 Sprinters, CVs, and cubes between Gary & Belvidere. That's just the ones listed on the Alliance board and doesn't include straights willing to suck up a van load, or in-service units left off the board on purpose. Nor does it include much of southern Wisconsin. Oh, bids are occurring, but there's so many of us up here, you'd be better off going elsewhere if you're not here already.

C'mon, spring...

I'm pretty well stuck. I live here. I do dash-and-back, so unless somebody comes up with a better plan I guess I just make the best of it. One of the companies I do business with tells me it's slow nationwide, so even if I could move it might not help much.

Seems to be more vans than anything else. We just loaded out of there with a hazmat load on a straight.

I guess its been that way for a bit but It cant be Wine and Roses every day, sometimes a little downtime is good to catch up the Paperwork, maintain the vehicle, get the laundry done and find a new BBQ restaurant...

Got out of Chicago yesterday after a 4 hour wait. I haven't had any trouble getting out of there hardly ever. I drive a van. Maybe for carriers who rely on the boards it is more difficult. Fortunately it seems my carrier has sufficient customers to keep us loaded and rolling out of Chicagoland.

Got out of Chicago Heights today at 3:30pm. Picked up a load at UGN and took it to Ceva Logistics in East Liberty, OH. 255 Loaded, but dispatch was telling me there was not much money in the load for anything but the .70 cents. Got two calls earlier in the day...1 load going to Findlay, OH from somewhere, and another that I had to DH 138 miles to Minooka, IL and take it to Milwaukee, WI. No money in that load so I turned it down and I had just got to sleep when I got the call on the Findlay load. I'm suprised E1 hasn't been moving hardly anything out of the western Michigan area recently. And there definitely is not a lot of long loads out there. I did good last two weeks and this week I hit a brick wall. Only 976 loaded miles. UGH!

Now what happening if a van is listed for 3 or 4 carriers ? A lot of vans are working with 3-4 brokers. So I dont think your number is accurate .

that's true. but even if 130 is an inflated amount, that still more than double what usually there.

The old problem is that we have to many vans, the new is that Sylectus let any carrier to haul fright and more and more from this small carriers not pay their contractors (owner operators).
