Good Day All,

What a wealth of input on this forum, it's great to see a community of O/O and Drivers here. 4 year lurker, first time poster.

A few questions reguarding the 2007-2010 chevy 2500 ext. w/ 4.8L and 2007-2010 Chevy 10' Supreme body Cargos with the 4.8L.

The 10' cutaway supreme with single rear wheels.

There are lost of Expediters to work for, which of the above in you experience is the best van to pick up the most jobs?

Average MPG for both that you have experienced?

Payload Capacitys?

Your opinons on the EXT VS the 10' Supreme..

My main concern is what is the best between the 2 and which one is the most sought after with the expediters. I know making some calls to them directly would help me with this answer, but members like yourself are the best to answer from personal experience.

I would assume you can get three pallets in the ext., what does the 10' Supreme offer pallet wise. Also are the wheel wells in the supreme more of a pain than what that truck is worth.

This is based on opinon, any input would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you guy and gals.

Safe Driving
-Shawn.

In my opinion neither vehicle is very good for expediting. If you want a standard cargo van, go for the Chevy 3500 extended, it offers a 9600 pound GVWR vs. 7300 pound GVWR for the 2500. Higher GVWR equates to a higher legal payload capacity.

As for the 10' Supreme, I'd go with the 12'. Two feet is two feet more for freight or personal use. It will add slightly to the curb weight though.

Average MPG for both that you have experienced?

I average 16.5 mpg with the 6.0L in an extended 3500.

Payload Capacitys?

The 3500 has a 9600 pound GVWR and a 3500 with a Supreme box has a 9900 GVWR.

That seems to be a good call, on the 3500. The 2500 was listed as 8600 GVWR and the 3500 was listed as 9600 GVWR. The 2500 Weights in at 6k with me +personal stuff. So 2600 Max would be it, more like 2400 to be safe. 2400 seems to low for 3 pallets, around 3300 to 3400 with the 3500, if I have done my math right. From what I have read and talk to people on my end the 6.0L seems to be a good engine for high mileage as long as you take care of it. Seems about $14k-$15k for a 2007-2010 w/ 25,000-40,000 miles for a 3500 ext 6.0L.

Thanks for all your input

A 2500 pound payload with a 3500 extended would be more realistic. By the time you add flooring, insulation, E-track, driver, fuel, bed, a couple of auxiliary batteries, clothing, toothbrush, other essentials and creature comforts your base payload will decrease dramatically. I'm at 2340 pounds with my carrier. My van is probably a bit on the heavy side.
