Canada? Apparently un-forgiving

Just found out today that I ca'nt go to Canada any more because I got a DUI (in a car) 20 years ago. When did Canada come up with a law like that? Have I been slipping in? I'm planning on buying a truck in the near future. I have a fairly impressive resume--32 yrs OTR tractor/trailer experience, graduated 2 driving schools in top of class, have been a driver trainer and a third party examiner for state highway dept. over 3 million miles with 1 accident(NON_CHARGEABLE). Due to the fact that a lot of expediting companies deliver in Canada, Is the fact that I ca'nt go going to ruin my chances of leasing to a good carrier? Lets hear it for the perfect, no mistake-making Canadians. Thanks for any info

Same thing happened to me,for the same reason. I didn't find out until my FAST card was denied. When I called them I was informed that if I did go back into Canada and was found out they would impound the truck I was in and Deport me. I look at it this was, I didn,t lose anything in that filthy country, so I HAVE NO REASON TO GO BACK!!!!

Hey Pappy:Try Hours gives you a choice if you want to go to Canada or not.If you tell them no,you will never be sent there.

Whitewolf,
Do you know if cargo vans do well with Try-Hours? Any info would be appreciated. Thank you for your time!

same thing with Express-1... Canada is a choice.
Panther will let you stay out of Canada, but your rate will be .05/mi less than normal.

Well I'm glad they keep drunk drivers out of our great country,it keeps our roads that much safer. In my opinion anyone convicted of DUI should be denied access to any license to become a professional driver, period.

Chaz: They seemed to be doing good when i was there 1 year ago, they are a good company to work for.I leased a 24 ft straight truck from them and did very well, kept me busy all the time.Would still be with them, but something unfortunate happened. My only regret was my sleeper was too small.

I'm so glad you never made a mistaki ROADKILL. I wonder if you were one of the draft didgers standing around yelling baby killers when I landed back in the US in 70? Not only am I a damn good safe driver, but a decorated ex-US Marine. My question is---What in the hell are You?
