business sense/TA shower credits

I recently found out that TA/Petro limits customers to 2 frequent fueler rewards per day. Was on a long trip and fueled at TA several times that day and later wondered where my shower credits were. Turns out that I had gotten all to which I was entitled, given the 2 points loads per day restriction. But why would they do that? It just means I won't fill up there more than twice a day. Now that P/FJ has a shower program for vanners--and with no daily limit--I'll go there after my 2x a day at TA.

So why would they have that limit? It's like paying taxes; would you rather pay the taxes you currently pay, or would you rather pay $5 million a year in taxes? Obviously, if your tax liability is 5 mill, you're making some serious jack, so sign me up! Likewise, why wouldn't TA figure it's better to have someone earn lots of points and showers if it means fueling at TA all the more?

Well, it was noted here on EO, but it's generally a good idea to read the Official Rules for these programs. That way you know what the rules are, and how to play the game. From the UltraONE Official Rules:

Expiration of UltraONE Points
1. UltraONE Points and any available shower credits (discussed below) will expire after six (6) months if no activity is recorded on a Card. Activity is defined as a Certificate being printed or UltraONE Points being added via a qualifying
purchase.

2. The following limitations on earning UltraONE Points apply to all members:

• Members will earn UltraONE Points on only two (2) diesel fuel purchases per day

• Members will earn UltraONE Points on only three (3) truck service shop transactions per day

UltraONE Points will not be awarded for any transactions in excess of these per day transaction limits.

As for why it's only two per day, I have no idea, other than it's probably a response to some sort of abuse where one guy was getting just a snotload of fuel credits.


The Fast Food Promotion (for Jan 1 to Feb 28) has changed from the previous promotion. Used to be it took $100 spent within the promotional period to get you a $10 coupon, but now it's only $50 to get you a $5 discount. It also used to be a two-per day limit, whereas now it's a one-per day limit. The biggest difference, though, is that you only accrue Fast Food credits between the hours of 5AM and 11AM. After 11AM and you get no credits.

The Full-Service sit-down restaurants have the same provisions in the current promotion.
