Hi Everyone, I am new to the forum. I have been in expediting for about a year now driving a Ford cargo van. I am currently leased on with a company but the owner has recently got his own authority. My question is, is it possable for him to hire his own agent/broker, and how can he find one? If not, which loadboards are the best for finding cargo van loads. He has two Ford vans and is buying another van and looking for a straight truck. I would appreciate any help. Thanks

I do strait truck work and Ive had good luck with Internet truck stop. You will need your own authority to work with brokers but, try calling load brokers and let them know you do van work they may give you work.

Good Luck

We use internettruckstop.com and Landstar, the brokers are the ones that post the loads.

Don't forget that a lot of brokers will only work with a trucking company that has been in business for 6 months or more. So be sure to check that out before you get into the rates and what not.

I have pulled for manny brokers times over the past few years and most are good about paying. As long as you have a clean BOL or if the freight is not right you call the broker, you write it up, have the management or owner at the pickup location sign off, and you dont totaly screw most of them pay.

We have to do the homework before accepting the load, Read the contract cover to cover, Check the references, Run the MC, DOT, Freight Fowarder, and or broker numbers with SMS, and SAFER it's good info if you learn to use it properly. Check for good authority, revocations, insurances, etc. Use a factoring company to check thier creddit if they dont tell you that they are max 30 days or arent in good standing Try the Com Check question if they say no then walk away.
And yes even then you may have a dishonest twit that wont pay.

Remember, one bad apple is no reason to reject the whole truck.
