BofA dropping fees

BofA is only supposed to give more ways to avoid the fees, they still plan to keep them.

When I went in to close my account they said they would wave all fees on my account. I told the lady that the bank was to big for their britchs and continued to close my account.:p

I'm in the process of closing my accts with BoA too, and their capitulation hasn't changed my mind at all - they will find some other way to regain the profit they just lost due to their own greed [overcharging retailers] and I'm voting with my feet, as the saying goes.
At the other end of the spectrum, I will do some shopping at Sears and let them know that I appreciate the policies they have for employees called for active military duty. :)

After years of working in the banking industry, Nothing speaks louder to a bank as when customers move their money out.

Almost all banks pull a deposit/withdraw report every morning to monitor such transactions. As a branch manager, if I saw anything larger then a $10,000.00 withdraw, I was on the phone with the customer asking if everything was OK or is there anything I can do for them........kissing butt

The banks are terrified of this!!!

The whole commercial banking industry would come to a halt if people moved their money to a tin can or C/U as they wouldn't have any money to lead and make interest on.

So you say O'no we can't do this because we won't be able to get a loan, Well they aren't lending us our money that WE helped them out with anyways, and OBTW most of the banks that took the bail-out didn't even need the $$$, however, they barrow it anyways because they in turn made money off of it because of it's low interest rate. They barrow low and lend HIGH.

Last just food for thought, when a customer comes in to open an inuity of $100,000.00 or more. The branch manager gets a $10,000.00 bonus right of the top before the money even gets a chance to earn any $$$. The employees under a branch manager are paid peanuts and you should feel sorry for them. The branch manager and up ARE NOT hurting for $$$ at all regardless how much the banks cry. The crying is so you feel bad and agree to the banks terms.

Believe me, the banking institutions are making $$$ hand-over-fist!

Again, If you want banks to lessen to you, close your accounts and move your, and I repeat YOUR money to a Credit Union......Banks biggest competitors.

I would think if the bonus were to be drastically reduced, for the upper managemant then the fees would not have to be what they are.

I like my credit union, but I do have mutual funds with Chase and a saving account and credit card with them

That is what they teach us at banking 101...get the customer into as many products.....credit card, bill-pay, CD's.....ect. Once you have the customer involved or in tangled in these accounts, the customer is less likely to leave the bank because of the inconvenience of moving all their accounts.

Chase really tries to sell their products, almost everytime I am in there they have one of their people approach me(not the teller) asking me why I don't have a checking account with them.
After the 10th time it's getting pretty annoying. Next time they ask I will tell them to put a note in their computer not to ask me again or I will pull my investment and savings account out of the bank.
My Checking at the credit union is linked to my Wife's and my Mom's and have no desire to change it.

My dad is a WW2 veteran.

Not sure if he has to bank there or not, but he is your ticket in. USAA.com is the bank you're looking for. For the most part, I love everything they do.

I'm sure MissKat would agree. They're in San Antonio, but I've never been there. Everything that you need is online. A former Coast Guard guy I know has been with them since 1967.

Hope that helps.

You don't need any 'ticket in' - checking & savings accts are open to anyone. It's where I opened both, and am waiting for deposit slips & debit card to arrive before I can finish transferring funds.
I REALLY like the ATM fee refunds, because sometimes, the fees just can't be avoided.

I wasn't aware of it, Cheri. Up until last year sometime, I believe it was only open to active duty and their families.

I reserve the right to be incorrect (as I frequently am).:D

I am fond of the ATM refunds, and up until 2 months ago, there was cash back on all debit card usage.....but no more.

Maybe they knew about the upcoming fees for debit cards before the public......

It was your turn. :p

If things would stop changing, we wouldn't find it so hard to keep up! ;)

I've emailed USAA to ask if they can meet my requirements and if so will look into moving to them.
