WELL THEY REVIEWED MY PROTEST TO THE TICKET AND ENDED UP REDUCING MY FINE TO $50 ONLY BECAUSE I HAD NO OTHER TICKETS IN THE STATE OF LA. THEY ALSO SAID THAT IT IS STILL ILLEGAL TO HAVE THE AIR PRESSURE REGULATOR IN THE CAB BUT HAVING THE SWITCH TO RAISE AND LOWER THE AXEL IN THE CAB WAS OK. I HAD ASKED ABOUT HAVING A SHUT OFF VALVE INSTALLED ON THE AIR LINE PRIOR TO IT GOING INTO THE CAB WHICH WOULD MAKE THE REGULATOR INOPERABLE WHILE NOT IN USE AND WAS TOLD THAT IF I WERE PULLED OVER I COULD DEMONSTRATE IT TO THE OFFICER AND WOULD PROBABLY NOT BE FINED. BUT I GUESS IF IT WAS BEING USED DUE TO A HEAVY LOAD I'D BE FINED! I GUESS I'LL LOOK INTO HAVING THE REGULATOR MOVED INTO THE SLEEPER SOME WHERE.
HEY MCBRIDE! HOW'D IT GO FOR YOU WITH YOUR PROTEST? WHAT THEY DO FOR ONE THEY SHOULD DO FOR THE OTHER OR AT LEAST YOU'D THINK SO! TAKE CARE OUT THERE! :) :) :) :) SHARP327

It still sounds like they are in the high revenue collecting mode. They stopped us last week and thought our license plate was located too low in the back. No ticket...just harrassed alittle.

I came from a heavy haul operation years ago, working for All Erection Crane out of Cleveland Ohio. The rules have always been you cannot control the axle from the drivers seated position, some states said it had to be mounted outside the cab of the truck. Ours where mounted behind the drivers seat and as the operator I could not change the air pressure from my seated position. I would have to exit the cab, make my air pressure adjustments and then return to my seat. This was questioned at many different states and I was never cited. Thank goodness! Best of luck with DOT as you never know which way they will go!
