August Salmon

Now is the time for August Salmon fishing on the West Coast of Michigan. There is a VERY good early run of nice fresh "Silver Fish" that runs the Betsie River starting about now.

There is also some really good trolling for salmon and steelhead all up and down Michigan's West Coast as fish start to "stack up" and go on feeding binges just prior to their fall spawning runs. It you find youself in that area with some time, CHECK IT OUT!! It is a blast!!

Me and my Wife took a cruise up the inside passage of Alaska,On one of the expeditions off the ship they served smoked salmon, raspberry jam and biscuits. Sounds kinda weird, but it was actually very good

Never heard of that. Who knows? I would try it!! I love smoked salmon. Used to do my own when I had time. It is a long envolved process that requires fresh salmon, a smoker, LOTS of charcoal, wood chips, football on TV and BEER!!

OK Layout....where's the best place to go! I can't eat it but i sure as hell can catch it! I have only been out fishing twice this year. I am more than ready!

Try the Betsie River near Honor MI this time of year for stream fishing. If you want to charter any of the boats out of Franfort or tht Traverse City area.
