Anybody have Powerd Landing Gear?

I have designed and built power landing gear for my straight truck. After slipping on ice in Dec of 08 and splitting my head open on the door cranking the gear up, I decided to add power to the gear. I checked online to find one company that sells them for $1200.00. Which is to much money. I built the unit for $600.00 and it works great. I am looking for ideas for the needs of truck drivers. I can design and build about anything. :)

I will upload pics later

The system is 12v chain drive. It still allows 2 speed trans unit in landing gear to operate. I have a toggle switch that runs unit up and down. It has a red led on the dash warning you the landing gear is in the down position. I hope all drivers use their landing gear, it's safer for the truck and hilow driver loading it.

Ours do stick more when it gets really cold out. I guess it is the grease freezing. They are always hard working though. I want a new handle, the one on there now is to short. Layoutshooter

I drilled a 1/4 hole in cover and use 70-80w oil instead of grease. Be sure to plug hole with body plug so water can't get in.

I too, find mine very stiff in colder weather. They are always hard to crank, but cold weather makes it even harder. Although mine have never flat out stuck. And I can fully understand you busting your head or any one of several other parts, while trying to crank these things. I always put mine down. They are there for a reason. Get used to using them and it just comes naturally.
