Another GREAT Expedite Expo

This years Expedite Expo has came and gone, but it was a great one. The announcement was made that the Expedite Expo is moving to Lexington, Ky in 2016 to a bigger location with more onsite hotels and parking. Casino Night was one of the biggest I have ever seen with over $7500.00 worth of gifts given away. The time my staff and I spent walking around the Expo was time well spent. We got to meet people that we do business with in person for the first time along with making some new contracts. The Expo has many things drivers and fleet owners can learn and understand at the Expo, it's just not all about recruiting. TA Truck-stop had Homer Hogg talking about the importance of a driver doing a proper pre-trip Inspection. Terry O. and Bob C. doing the Pre trip Inspection Challenge sponsored by TA/ Petro was a learning experience for even a twenty one year expedite veteran like myself. Thank you Bob and Terry for all that you do for the Expedite family of Expediters Online.

I was happy to see FedEx Custom Critical, the largest expedite carrier be the title sponsor of the Expo. I started out at Roberts Express/FedEx Custom Critical back in 1995 and they will always be dear to me. I learned so much there during my almost fourteen years with them, that we use a lot of those things today at Mayfield Express. It was just nice to sit in their booth and talk about the days of doing 1300 plus loads on a Friday,or how FedEx Custom Critical had the very first Skills Challenge back in 1998 that reminded drivers each year about what to look for on a pre-trip inspection.

It was also nice to see John Elliott, The CEO of Load1 standing at his booth talking to drivers and owner operators. I'm not sure, but I think John is the only CEO that comes to the Expedite Expo from a top five Expedite Carrier every year. That is why I say Load1 is the fastest growing expedite carrier in the business today. That is not a knock to the other carriers by all means. John is just a man that everyone loves to be around, because John cares about his drivers, owner operators, and his staff.

As times have changed in Expediting since 1995 when I was a rookie in expediting. The Expo has changed over the years also. The Expedite Expo has out grown the Roberts Center and will be moving to a bigger location where we all can stay in the same area. I stayed in Xenia, Ohio 12 miles away because the hotel at the Roberts Center was all booked. I'm looking forward to next years Expo already. I already know it's going to be something better than we have ever seen. Lawrence Mc Cord your dream is now reality. Well done my friend.

I got a close up look at the Promaster Westmicher brought to the L1 display; wow what a nice job he did! I'd love to see him do a Transit, too, because I'm a Ford fan :)

Is that the one he documented on EO for us as he was building it out?

I've certainly thought about it... but the Promasters are much easier because I've created templates and drawings for all the parts. The first one of any design takes twice as long at least. Maybe next winter?

Thank you VERY much for the compliment! ;)

Did you see the Bolt sleeper that had two beds on the bottom, it had each bed behind each seat? It's a great setup, no more top bunk sleepers or a another driver sleeping in the lead driver bed.

Dave,

Thanks for coming to the show! Congrats on winning the 1st Annual TA/Petro Pre-Trip!
Sorry I couldn't stay for the BBQ, I had to get back to the office as we had a sick dispatcher.
