Lets hope it all works out...sounds great!!

America

It’s a harbinger of a nationwide investment boom spreading from the oil fields of North Dakota and the Marcellus gas shale in Pennsylvania to power plants in California and chemical refiners in Texas. A surge in U.S. natural gas development has spurred $226 billion in spending plans on pipelines, storage, processing facilities and power plants, most slated for the next five years, according to Industrial Info Resources, a market- intelligence provider in Sugar Land, Texas.

Now if the EPA would get out of the way and let us build new refineries, and open the oil fields that are off limits, we could be self sufficient again... But that isn't in the plans for anyone in our government...

Actually there has been building of refineries, one in SD and ND....small ones but yet new ones...one small step at a time....

I agree the EPA needs to loosen up a little....this could just be the ticket to get this country back on track....letting the EPA run amok is not a good thing....

Another part of the problem is that MOST of those who want to 'fix' this are touting 'quick fixes'. It took a hundred years or so to get into this mess, it cannot be fixed in 5. It will take decades of hard work and long term planning for things to work out. We have to start teaching self reliance again. The mess they gave us by creating the dependent class is going to take a LONG time to undue.

don't think anyone said a quick fix...but it takes the first step to be made...

I have NO idea how it happened but my last post was supposed to be in another thread. I deleted it and moved it to the correct thread. GEEZ, a large coffee was not enough.

it was relevant tho....

Only sort of. Long term thinking and planning is needed in the energy business as well. As per normal we are rushing in, again, without any kind of long term planning. That is how we made so many mistakes in the oil boom. We are repeating the same mistakes.

Right now they are cutting back on the water for fracking. The drought is making water more important than gas production.

There is no plan for liquid fuels for vehicles.

Just another willy nilly rush for short term money.

One thing you will see if Romni gets into office is the cutting of the EPA budget like Bush did. Bush cut it by 50% sparking industrial building projects. This time not only a budget cut but combining the EPA with another agency. Like you say get the EPA under control and that helps industrial growth which this country desperately needs.

States IMO has to do more to protect their turf.....kick the EPA out whenever and wherever they stick their noses into a states business....

Yes, there is. I am not sure, based on what I have read, that Natural gas vehicles have the range between fuel ups that diesel does. Little is being done to develop coal to diesel plants. Proven, long term energy reserves.

And yes, we must find a way to do this with as little damage to wildlife habitat as possible. Every thing is important.

Willy nilly again. We have ignored the energy problems for decades, and now, we are going to fix it, right now. We will pay the price again in 50 years.

Yeah, I know. That is, however, the exact attitude that got us into this mess that we are in. We all do it. It is a natural part of being a short lived species. We tend to not think beyond a single lifetime. What we have now is a direct result of that thinking.

and it will continue into many more generations I am sure....the old expression..."Live for today" has never had more meaning as now....

There are concepts that could turn this country around for the future generations that our two corrupt parties will never allow the citizens to have... Like a citizens dividend on OUR natural resources...
