Last night my wife was listening to her ipod though the truck radio, she sias she heard a pop and now we have alternator whine coming through the radio when we use a cigarete lighter adapter powered accessory. Like xm radio or ipods when not on battery.

There is no whine on the regular radio am or fm

the interference seems to be coming through the cigarrete/acc outlet.

Is there normallyy some kind of freq filter or relay that elliminates this interference that perhaps burnt out?

there isn't any interfererence elsewhere so im puzzled.

There may be an inline filter that has ceased to function. Or, something (a wiring connection) in that cigarette/acc outlet that used to be properly grounded, now isn't, because it popped loose (as in, came unsoldered), or the wiring from it has gotten jostled around and isn't in the same place that it was before, which is picking up the RF interference from the alternator.
