About Panther's get home program...

Just a quick question:

Did all the loads we refused when we were trying to get home for Labor Day hurt our acceptance rating? We were on the get home list but only got offerd loads going the wrong way so we refused them. I wonder why were we offered these loads if they knew we wanted to be home for the weekend? Maybe they were hoping to tempt us enough to change our minds and stay out!

Not in the least, those loads were offered to you to move a customers freight. When the Con-Way Now was in business, even though a truck wanted to get home, the first in-first out rule, still says they must offer all loads to you, regardless of where they go.

I doubt that the refusals will hurt your acceptance rating, as they had prior knowledge that you needed to get home. Please, do not fell like you did something wrong. At times you may get discouraged, but hang in there kiddo, it makes sense in the long haul.

If they hadn't offered you the freight, then that is the time to start worrying.

For those of us who do not know, what is Panther's get home list and how does it work?

Lisalewis, the correct answer would be no but with panthers dispatchers they probably did count against you.I log on to panthers webb site after every load offer to make sure i am not hit with a refusal when it should not have been.example, disp more than 8 hours in advanced.not enough available hours.seems like in the last 2 months there has not been a week go by that they have not charged me with a bogus refusal when it should have been dispatch error!!!the biggest problem with this is it moves you to the bottom of the board.this happened to me 3 weeks ago in SOUTH CAROLINA on a friday and buy the time I got it changed to dispatch error and my board position back friday was over and I was stuck for the weekend.these are problems with panther that need to be corrected .hope this helps good luck MR.SNAPPY

ATEAM,Panther has something they call hometyme .here is how it works if you are a tractor or straight truck after being in service for 2 weeks you can call and request to be put on the hometyme board {thats panthers way of spelling it}so lets say you are sitting in Detroit MI and you need to go home to LOUISVILLE,KY and you where sitting 4th on the board and a load comes in going close to that direction you should move up the board and the load is offered to you.they will still send you loads according to board positions going in any direction that if you refuse it not suppose to count against you as a refusal.this is where you have to watch them.for the most part this program has worked for me.as I said earlier you better log on to the driver webb site and keep a check on the dispatchers. It has worked well for us, but as mentioned, you do have to watch what is counted as a refusal. That should iron itself out once all those new dispatchers get through the classes.

(Panther dispatchers)

I guess after reading the threads about a "getting home list," and people talking about being on a refusal list from dispatchers if they decide you should of taken that load offer. I'm a little concirned.

Some dispatchers will tell you anything so you can accept their load offer, if you decline their nice helpful personality turns ugly real fast and than they hang-up on you. (I'm not bashing all dispatchers) so lets all not attack me for my last statement, so lets be objective about my point.

(My point is) How can drivers protect them selves from certain dispatchers who get a little angry at you because you did not accept their load offer. To black ball you, put you on a refusal list. Dispatchers do not own & operate your business and a lot of them do not understand or care why you declined that load offer. How can we challenge that mark against us. So in the eyes of Panther we are not the team players they think we should be.

Thanks
